Lucy Gray (activist)
Lucy Gray (born December 2006) is a New Zealand climate change activist and singer-songwriter. Biography Lucy Gray is a student at the Hagley School of Music in Christchurch, and was previously a student at Ao Tawhiti school, and Cashmere High School. She is a national chairperson of School Strike 4 Climate activities, including marches for school students to join. Gray is also a singer-songwriter who released her first single "Your Name" in 2022. Since 2023, Gray has been releasing singles with producers Andy and Vic Knopp as part of her upcoming EP. Climate activism As part of Gray's advocacy for the climate, three marches were scheduled to happen in 2019, on 15 March (which was abandoned for safety reasons due to the Christchurch mosque shootings), 24 May, and again on 27 September. School Strike For Climate
School Strike for Climate ( sv, Skolstrejk för klimatet), also known variously as Fridays for Future (FFF), Youth for Climate, Climate Strike or Youth Strike for Climate, is an international movement of school students who skip Friday classes to participate in demonstrations to demand action from political leaders to prevent climate change and for the fossil fuel industry to transition to renewable energy. Publicity and widespread organising began after Swedish pupil Greta Thunberg staged a protest in August 2018 outside of the Swedish Riksdag (parliament), holding a sign that read "" ("School strike for climate"). A global strike on 15 March 2019 gathered more than one million strikers in 2,200 strikes organised in 125 countries. NZ On Air (NZOA; mi, Irirangi te Motu), formally the Broadcasting Commission, is an autonomous Crown entity and commission of the New Zealand Government responsible for funding support for broadcasting and creative works. The commission operates largely separate from government policy but must follow directions from the Minister of Broadcasting. NZOA is responsible for the funding of public broadcasting content across television, radio and other media platforms. It is also a major investor in New Zealand independent producers. The Official New Zealand Music Chart ( mi, Te Papa Tātai Waiata Matua o Aotearoa) is the weekly New Zealand top 40 singles and albums charts, issued weekly by Recorded Music NZ (formerly Recording Industry Association of New Zealand). Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg (; born 3 January 2003) is a Swedish environmental activist who is known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action for climate change mitigation.
