Lucy Brown (tennis)
Lucy Brown (born 11 January 1993) is a former professional tennis player from the United Kingdom. On 9 July 2012, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking of 540. Tennis career Brown's parents played tennis socially, and she began playing seriously when she was nine. She played in Oxfordshire, and trained at the LTA academy in Loughborough and then the Bisham Abbey High Performance Centre. She then trained in Spain and then at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, but her tennis training was\ a source of financial stress. During her professional career, she won 6 ITF Pro Circuit Doubles Titles. She played doubles at Wimbledon in 2010 with her friend Laura Robson. Injuries ended her professional career. The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) is the principal organizing body of women's professional tennis. It governs the WTA Tour which is the worldwide professional tennis tour for women and was founded to create a better future for women's tennis. The WTA's corporate headquarters is in St. Petersburg, Florida, with its European headquarters in London and its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Beijing. The Women's Tennis Association was founded in June 1973 by Billie Jean King, and traces its origins to the inaugural Virginia Slims tournament, arranged by Gladys Heldman, sponsored by Joe Cullman, CEO of Philip Morris, and held on 23 September 1970 at the Houston Racquet Club in Houston, Texas. Laura Robson (tennis)
Laura Robson (born 21 January 1994) is a British former professional tennis player. She debuted on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2007, and a year later won the Junior Wimbledon championships at the age of 14. As a junior, she also twice reached the final of the girls' singles tournament at the Australian Open, in 2009 and 2010. She won her first tournament on the ITF Women's Circuit in November 2008. In singles tennis, Robson was the first British woman since Samantha Smith at Wimbledon in 1998 to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament, doing so at the 2012 US Open and the 2013 Wimbledon Championships. At the 2012 Guangzhou Women's Open, Robson became the first British woman since Jo Durie in 1990 to reach a WTA Tour final, where she lost to Hsieh Su-wei. She was named WTA Newcomer of the Year for 2012 and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 27 the following year. Cothill House
Cothill House is a day and boarding boys' independent school for preparatory pupils in Cothill, Oxfordshire, which houses around 220 boys from the ages 8–13. General information The school offers day places, junior and full boarding, with around 220 pupils. A range of music scholarships and bursaries are provided in term time.
