Lucien Loizeau
Lucien Loizeau (9 April 1879 – 6 June 1978) was a French general who was known for his writings on military topics. Commander of the French 6th Army Corps at the beginning of World War II, he was taken prisoner by the Germans in 1940 and was held for the remainder of the war at the German POW camp at Königstein Fortress. Oflag IV-B Koenigstein
An Oflag (from german: Offizierslager) was a type of prisoner of war camp for officers which the German Army established in World War I in accordance with the requirements of the 1899 Hague Convention, and in World War II in accordance with the requirements of the Geneva Convention (1929). Königstein Fortress
Königstein Fortress (german: Festung Königstein), the "Saxony, Saxon Bastille", is a hilltop fortress near Dresden, in Saxon Switzerland, Germany, above the town of Königstein, Saxony, Königstein on the left bank of the River Elbe. It is one of the largest hilltop fortifications in Europe and sits atop the Königstein (hill), table hill of the same name. The rock plateau rises above the Elbe and has over 50 buildings, some over 400 years old, that bear witness to the military and civilian life in the fortress. The rampart run of the fortress is long with walls up to high and steep sandstone faces. In the centre of the site is a deep well, which is the deepest in Saxony and second deepest well in Europe.
