Lucie Ann Onderwyzer
Lucie Ann Onderwyzer (1913-1988) was an American lingerie designer and founder of the Lucie Ann brand in 1949. In 1949 Onderwyzer and her partner Anne Briggs launched Lucie Ann Lingerie of Beverly Hills, which became known for its use of unexpected color, and for its use of Marabou (fashion), marabou feather trimmings. Eva Gabor often wore Lucie Ann designs in her TV sitcom ''Green Acres'' (1965-1971). Around 1961, she launched a line named "Claire Sandra", named after her daughter who was born in 1947. Onderwyzer won the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award in 1966. Onderwyzer died on 18 March 1988, aged 75, in Los Angeles following a stroke. The Lucie Ann brand was subsequently sold to Deena Inc., and rechristened "Lucie Ann II," before being sold in 1996 to Lady Ester Lingerie Corp. Marabou (fashion)
Marabou (historically spelled marabout) describes a certain type of down feather trimming. Although it takes its name from the marabou stork whose undertail down once provided the feathers, white turkey feathers have been used as a substitute. The advantage of marabou is that it takes dye well, making it a very versatile trimming for dress, and makes an effective substitute for fur. While marabou has been widely used as a fashion trimming since the late 19th century, it is also often used in fly tying for making up the lures ('flies') used for fly fishing. In fashion "Marabout" was a very popular trimming from the late eighteenth century onwards. It was used for trimming hats and making up muffs and feather boas. Eva Gabor ( ; February 11, 1919 – July 4, 1995) was a Hungarian-American actress, businesswoman, singer, and socialite. She voiced Duchess and Miss Bianca in the animated Disney Classics, ''The Aristocats'' (1970), ''The Rescuers'' (1977), and ''The Rescuers Down Under'' (1990). ''Green Acres'' is an American television sitcom starring Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor as a couple who move from New York City to a country farm. Produced by Filmways as a sister show to ''Petticoat Junction'', the series was first broadcast on CBS, from September 15, 1965, to April 27, 1971. Receiving solid ratings during its six-year run, ''Green Acres'' was cancelled in 1971 as part of the "rural purge" by CBS. The sitcom has been in syndication and is available on DVD and VHS releases. A reunion movie aired in 1990. In 1997, the two-part episode "A Star Named Arnold Is Born" was ranked No. 59 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All-Time. Neiman Marcus Fashion Award
The Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion was a yearly award created in 1938 by Carrie Marcus Neiman and Stanley Marcus. Unlike the Coty Award, it was not limited to American-based fashion designers. Recipients of the Neiman Marcus Awards include couturiers, non-American-based designers, journalists, manufacturers, and celebrities and style icons who had had a significant personal influence upon fashion such as Grace Kelly and Grace Mirabella. The award was typically presented to multiple recipients each year, rather than to a single individual, although Adrian was the sole winner in 1943, a feat repeated in 1957 by Coco Chanel. From 1969 the awards became increasingly intermittent, with ceremonies held in 1973, 1979, 1980, 1984 and 1995, the last year in which the awards were presented.
