Lucian Sânmărtean
Lucian Iulian Sânmărtean (born 13 March 1980) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or a winger. Regarded by coach Ioan Sabău as the country's most talented player after Gheorghe Hagi, he was awarded Romanian Footballer of the Year in 2014. Sânmărtean was often praised for his exceptional passing and uncommon dribbling ability, however much of his career was marked by injuries. Sânmărtean gained his first cap for the Romania national team in November 2002. He amassed 21 games for the nation and represented it at the UEFA Euro 2016. FC Utrecht
Football Club Utrecht () is a Dutch professional football club based in Utrecht. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. The Greek Football Cup ( el, Κύπελλο Ελλάδος Ποδοσφαίρου), commonly known as the Greek Cup or Kypello Elladas is a Greek football competition, run by the Hellenic Football Federation. Dumitru Mitu
Dumitru Mitu (born 13 February 1975) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a left winger or striker. Early life Mitu was born in Bucharest, but spent his childhood years in the nearby village of Dobroieşti. His father worked at the village bar, while his mother was a kiosk saleswoman. At age six and a half he started to play as a junior for Metalul (Faur) București, then a second division club, eventually reaching the first team. In 1992, aged 17, he signed for Steaua's junior squad. Senior career In 1992 Mitu started his senior football career in his hometown team of Faur București, a little later playing for lesser-known clubs like Farul Constanţa, FC Braşov and UTA Arad, before moving to NK Osijek during season 1996–1997. Erik Lincar
Erik Augustin Lincar (born 16 October 1978 in Oradea) is a Romanian football manager and former player. He was born in Oradea and debuted in Divizia A with Steaua București in 1997, having joined Steaua from the Girondins de Bordeaux youth team. Steaua won the league title during his first season with the club, took the cup title in 1999 and the league title again in 2001. In 2002, he headed overseas to spend two unsuccessful seasons in Greece at Panathinaikos and Akratitos. After playing for a while in Russia for FC Amkar Perm, Lincar returns to Romania. He played for Prefab Modelu where he is also an assistant manager. In 2011, he was manager of FC Hunedoara for six matches being dismissed on 26 September 2011. Dănuț Lupu (born 27 February 1967) is a Romanian former football midfielder known for his dribbling ability. Club career Dănuț Lupu played football and ice hockey simultaneously until the age of 14, when he decided to concentrate exclusively on his football career. He started to play professional football in 1985 at Dunărea Galați in the Romanian second league. In 1987 he was transferred at Dinamo București where he was wanted by coach Mircea Lucescu, playing his first Divizia A match on 8 March 1987 which ended with a 2–0 win against FC Brașov. Doru Nicolae (born 22 March 1952) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He was one of few Romanian footballers who was transferred in a foreign country during the communist regime. Nicolae played seven games at international level for Romania. The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
