Lucas Gilbreath
Lucas Grant Gilbreath (born March 5, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021. Amateur career Gilbreath attended Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colorado. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB draft, but did not sign and played college baseball at the University of Minnesota. In 2016, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League. He was again drafted by the Rockies, this time in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB draft, and signed. Professional career Gilbreath began his career with the rookie ball Grand Junction Rockies. In 2018, Gilbreath pitched for the Single-A Asheville Tourists, recording a 7-8 record and 5.04 ERA with 119 strikeouts in 116.0 innings pitched. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. 2017 MLB Draft
The 2017 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft began on June 12, 2017. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The first 36 picks, including the first round and compensatory picks, were broadcast on MLB Network on June 12, while the remainder of the draft was live streamed on MLB.com on June 13 and 14. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, colloquially known as Tommy John surgery (TJS), is a surgical graft procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with either a tendon from elsewhere in the patient's body, or with one from a deceased donor. Amateur career Rojas attended Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona and played college baseball at Paradise Valley Community College and the University of Hawaii.
