Lucas Dias Silva, commonly known as either Lucas Dias, or simply as Lucas (born July 6, 1995) is a Brazilian professional basketball player who currently plays for Franca of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). Professional career Dias was named Jordan Brand Classic International MVP in 2012. On April 21, 2015, it was announced that he would enter the 2015 NBA draft. However, he withdrew from the draft before the draft withdrawal deadline. Dias began his pro career with the Brazilian NBB League club E.C. Pinheiros. He was named the Brazilian League Revelation Player of the 2015–16 season. In 2016, he moved to the Brazilian club Paulistano. Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) (English: New Basketball Brazil) is the Brazilian premier professional men's basketball league. It is organized by the Liga Nacional de Basquete (LNB) (National Basketball League), in a new format of Brazil's previous top-tier level basketball competition, the Campeonato Brasileiro de Basquete (Brazilian Basketball Championship). The NBB is managed by the Brazilian basketball associations, which were founding members of the LNB. Format The NBB is the annual basketball league that is promoted by the national Brazilian league (LNB) organizing body, and is endorsed by the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CFB). The first phase of the season consists of fifteen teams playing against each other, on a home and away basis. Jordan Brand Classic
The Jordan Brand Classic is a high school All-Star basketball game played annually in April. The game's rosters feature the best and most highly recruited high school boys in the senior class including alumns like Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum and Zion Williamson. The game takes its name from the chief organizer, Jordan Brand, a division of Nike named after Michael Jordan. 2016–17 NBB Season
The 2016–17 NBB season was the 9th season of the Novo Basquete Brasil, the Brazilian basketball league. Once again this tournament was organized entirely by the Liga Nacional de Basquete (LNB). The NBB also qualified teams for international tournaments such as Liga Sudamericana and FIBA Americas League. This season fifteen teams played each other in the regular season. At the end of the home and away matches round the top four teams qualified for the quarterfinals of the playoffs automatically, while the teams finishing in the 5th and 12th place participated in the first round of the playoffs to determine the other four teams in the quarterfinals, in a five-match series. This season maintained 15/16's playoff method of best of 5 games, played on the 1-2-1-1 format. For this season, the last two regular season placed teams were relegated to the Liga Ouro, the NBB second division. Only the Liga Ouro winner received the right to contest NBB in the next year. 2017 FIBA AmeriCup
The 2017 FIBA AmeriCup was the 18th edition of the FIBA AmeriCup, which is the main tournament for senior men's basketball national teams of the FIBA Americas. The tournament was held in Medellín, Colombia, Montevideo, Uruguay, and Bahía Blanca and Córdoba, in Argentina, from 25 August, to 3 September 2017.
