Lucan Sarsfields
Lucan Sarsfields (Irish: ''Sáirséalaigh Leamhcáin'' ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lucan, Dublin, Ireland. It was founded in 1886, making it one of the oldest GAA clubs in Dublin. Sarsfields were one of 16 teams which contested the Dublin Senior Championship in 1887. They were also involved in the Senior Championship of 1892, and the club has fielded Gaelic football, hurling and camogie teams ever since. Early success Lucan won the Intermediate Football League in the 1904–05 season. It is reported that they did this with the help of five players from Balbriggan. The story goes that in 1902 a team call Balbriggan Wanderers won the Intermediate League and then for some reason or other went out of existence in 1904. One of the players on that team was a man named Paddy Richardson, who was a fish merchant and regularly attended the Dublin market. John McCaffrey (hurler)
John McCaffrey (born 11 September 1987) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Lucan Sarsfields and has been a member of the Dublin senior inter-county team since 2006. Playing career Club McCaffrey plays his club hurling with the Lucan Sarsfield's club. He won a county minor championship title with the club in 2005. He also played when the club played their first ever Senior Hurling championship county final in 2013. Inter-county McCaffrey first lined out for the Dublin hurlers at minor level (as well as representing Dublin in minor football). He was captain of the team in 2005 as 'the Dubs' captured the Leinster title following a win over Wexford. After success at minor level McCaffrey subsequently joined the Dublin under-21 team where he also served as captain. Kevin O'Reilly
Kevin O'Reilly (born 1987) is Hurling, hurler for the Dublin GAA, Dublin senior team and Lucan Sarsfields. O'Reilly was named on the 2007 3rd Level All-Star XV for DIT GAA, DIT due to his performance in the Fitzgibbon Cup. O'Reilly was named on the Dublin Blue Stars team five times over his club career, firstly in 2006, then in 2009, 2011, 2013 and again in 2015. Stephen O’Shaughnessy
Stephen O'Shaughnessy is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Lucan Sarsfields club and at senior level for the Dublin county team. Inter-county O'Shaughnessy made his debut for Dublin in 2005. He proved an important asset to the Dublin team in the absence of former Dublin captain, Paddy Christie, who was out due to injury. O'Shaughnessy met the same fate when he too had to drop out of the championship due to a shoulder injury. However, he returned to play in the Leinster final and All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Tyrone. He was nominated for an All-Star later that year. Due to a recurrence of a shoulder injury O'Shaughnessy missed the entire 2006 league campaign. Paul Casey (born 14 October 1981) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Dublin county team and currently plays for the Lucan Sarsfields club. He is a wing-back. Tommy Carr (Gaelic Footballer)
Tommy Carr is an Irish strength and conditioning coach and former Gaelic footballer who played for the Dublin county team. He later became involved in coaching and media work. Playing career Carr received an All Star in 1991 in the same year that he won a National Football League medal with Dublin. He won his second league medal with Dublin in 1993. Managerial career Carr was the Dublin manager between 1997 and 2001, a period that proved an unsuccessful period for Dublin. Jack Sheedy is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Dublin-based club Lucan Sarsfields and for the Dublin county team. Playing career Sheedy made his Championship debut for Dublin against Meath in the first round of the Leinster Senior Football Championship in 1991, after having been a panellist on the Dublin team beaten by Kerry in 1984. The series famously finished after four games (three replays), with Dublin losing by a point. He scored a goal in the opening game against Meath and finished the series with 1-03. Dublin Senior Hurling Championship
The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship ( ga, Craobh Sinsear Iomána Átha Cliath) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin GAA, Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September.
