Luca Ferrari (writer)
Luca Chino Ferrari (born April 6, 1963) is an Italian music writer. He has written books about folk and rock musicians such as Third Ear Band, Pink Floyd, Robyn Hitchcock, Captain Beefheart, Tim Buckley, Syd Barrett, and articles and reviews for Italian magazines such as ''Ciao 2001'', ''Vinile'', ''Buscadero'', and ''Rockerilla''. He met Syd Barrett in 1986, and contributed to the reunion of the Third Ear Band during the 1980s. Third Ear Band
Third Ear Band were a British musical group formed in London during the mid-1960s. Their line-up initially consisted of violin, cello, oboe and percussion. Most of their performances were instrumental and partly improvised. Their records for the Harvest label, ''Alchemy'' and ''Third Ear Band'', achieved some popularity, after which they found some success creating soundtrack music for films. History Dave Tomlin, who had initiated free-form jazz sessions at the London Free School, began similar sessions at the UFO Club by assembling members of the audience, usually at 4am, into a free-form group playing for the, by then, exhausted dancers. The drummer, Glen Sweeney, was sometimes so carried away he had to be told that the rest of the group had finished. They became known as 'The Giant Sun Trolley'. Mike Taylor (musician)
Michael Ronald Taylor (1 June 1938, Ealing, West London – 19 January 1969) was a British jazz composer, pianist and co-songwriter for the band Cream. Biography Mike Taylor was brought up by his grandparents in London and Kent, and joined the RAF for his national service. Having rehearsed and written extensively throughout the early 1960s, he recorded two albums for the Lansdowne series produced by Denis Preston: ''Pendulum'' (1966) with drummer Jon Hiseman, bassist Tony Reeves and saxophonist Dave Tomlin and ''Trio'' (1967) with Hiseman and bassists Jack Bruce and Ron Rubin. The albums were issued on UK Columbia. During his brief recording career, several of Taylor's pieces were played and recorded by his contemporaries. Three Taylor compositions were recorded by Cream, with lyrics by drummer Ginger Baker: "Passing the Time", "Pressed Rat and Warthog" and "Those Were the Days", all of which appeared on the band's August 1968 album ''Wheels of Fire''. ''Opel'' is a 1988 album compiled from recordings made by former Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett between 1968 and 1970. The album is a compilation of unreleased material and alternate takes of recordings from sessions for Barrett's solo albums, ''The Madcap Laughs'' and '' Barrett''. Before they were vetoed by Pink Floyd, the album was to include two unreleased tracks that Barrett had worked on while with Pink Floyd, "Scream Thy Last Scream" and "Vegetable Man". ''Opel'' was released in October 1988 on Harvest in the UK, and on Capitol Records in the US. ''The Amazing Pudding'' (1983–1993) was a British fan magazine devoted to Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, and the solo careers of other Pink Floyd band members, including Syd Barrett. ''Buscadero'' is a monthly music magazine published in Italy by Edizioni l'ultimo Buscadero Srl. It features classic rock and was founded in 1980 by Aldo Pedron, Paolo Carù and others after they split from the editorial staff of the magazine ''Il mucchio selvaggio''. Aldo Pedron was the editor-in-chief of ''Buscadero'' from its founding until 1992. It is published in the Milanese city of Gallarate.
