Luc Panissod
Luc Panissod (born 1949 in France) was Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). He previously held the role of Deputy Secretary General of WOSM and was made acting WOSM Secretary General in mid-November 2007 in replacement of Eduardo Missoni, following an institutional crisis over leadership and finance. In March 2009 he was officially appointed to the position of Secretary General of WOSM. Panissod laid down his post on 31 December 2011. Responsibilities at WOSM fall into two divisions, each headed by an Executive Director. In his role as Deputy Secretary General, Panissod was in charge of General Management, responsible for Administration, Finance, Personnel, Technology and Information, Resource Mobilization, Design, Partnerships, World Events, and Documents and Archiving. Bronze Wolf
The Bronze Wolf Award is bestowed by the World Scout Committee (WSC) to acknowledge "outstanding service by an individual to the World Scout Movement". It is the highest honor that can be given a volunteer Scout leader in the world and it is the only award given by the WSC. Since the award's creation in 1935, fewer than 400 of the several millions of Scouts throughout the world have received the award. History Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell, initially recognized outstanding contributions to Scouting by any Scout with the bestowal of the Silver Wolf, but although he was Chief Scout of the World, the Silver Wolf was associated with British Scouting. In 1924, the International Committee, predecessor of the WSC, determined that it needed an award to be given out in its own name and at its own recommendation. Scott Teare
Scott A. Teare (born 1951) became the Secretary General and one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in January 2013. Teare's mother was a Den Leader and his father was a Cubmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. At the age of eight he joined the Cubs. He became an Eagle Scout, had a 38-year career that began in his hometown of Flint, Michigan. WOSM-Africa Region
The Africa Scout Region is the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with satellite offices in Cape Town, South Africa, and Dakar, Senegal. The Africa Region services Scouting in Sub-Saharan Africa and neighboring islands that are recognized members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Currently, the region has 39 member National Scout Associations/Organizations and 11 potential members. The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the counterpart of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
