Annie M. Lowrey (; born July 22, 1984) is an American journalist who writes on politics and economic policy for ''The Atlantic''. Previously, Lowrey covered economic policy for the ''New York Times'' and prior to that was the Moneybox columnist for ''Slate''. She was also a staff writer for the ''Washington Independent'' and served on the editorial staffs of ''Foreign Policy'' and ''The New Yorker''. She is a leading proponent of universal basic income. Carr Lowrey Glass Company (1889–2003) was a manufacturer of glass bottles. Establishment Carr Lowrey Glass Company founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1889. Located on the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River in a neighborhood named Westport, Samuel Carr and William Lowrey established their company to create glass bottles for the pharmaceutical and perfume industries. As seen from the locally famous Hanover Street Bridge, just west of Fort McHenry, you could see the towering smoke stacks and piles of discarded blue glass the factory. Their company grew over the years as they were one of the first companies to utilize an "IS Machine," a machine that had individual sections that were timed to automatically blow and move the bottles to a conveyor system. Harry Lee "Peanuts" Lowrey (August 27, 1917 – July 2, 1986) was an American outfielder in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago Cubs (1942–43; 1945–49), Cincinnati Reds (1949–50), St. Louis Cardinals (1950–54) and Philadelphia Phillies (1955). He was born in Culver City, California and attended Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles. He was nicknamed as a child by an uncle who, remarking on Lowrey's small size, said, "Why, he's no bigger than a peanut." While Lowrey was growing up in Greater Los Angeles, he worked as a child actor on the Our Gang comedies. Mark John Lowrey (born 13 September 1971) is a former English cricketer. Lowrey was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born in Hampstead, London and later educated at Radley College and Cambridge University. Lowrey made his first-class debut for Cambridge University against Northamptonshire in 1990. From 1990 to 1991, he represented the University in 20 first-class matches, the last of which came against Oxford University. In his 20 first-class matches for the University, he scored 597 runs at a batting average of 19.90, with 3 half centuries and a high score of 72. In the field he took 3 catches. With the ball he took 19 wickets at a bowling average of 51.52, with best figures of 3/31.
