"Lower Decks" is the 167th episode of the American science fiction television series '' Star Trek: The Next Generation''. It is the 15th episode of the seventh season. Set in the 24th century, the series follows the adventures of the Starfleet crew of the Federation starship Enterprise-D. In this episode, while enduring the ''Enterprise'' promotion evaluation process, four junior officers find themselves involved in a top-secret mission.
