Rail Yard
A rail yard, railway yard, railroad yard (US) or simply yard, is a series of tracks in a rail network for storing, sorting, or loading and unloading rail vehicles and locomotives. Yards have many tracks in parallel for keeping rolling stock or unused locomotives stored off the main line, so that they do not obstruct the flow of traffic. Cars or wagons are moved around by specially designed yard switchers (US) or shunters, a type of locomotive. Cars or wagons in a yard may be sorted by numerous categories, including railway company, loaded or unloaded, destination, car type, or whether they need repairs. Yards are normally built where there is a need to store rail vehicles while they are not being loaded or unloaded, or are waiting to be assembled into trains. Washington Park (community Area), Chicago
Washington Park is a community area on the South Side of Chicago which includes the 372 acre (1.5 km) park of the same name, stretching east-west from Cottage Grove Avenue to the Dan Ryan Expressway, and north-south from 51st Street to 63rd. It is home to the DuSable Museum of African American History. The park was the proposed site of the Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Aquatics Center in Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. It and surrounding neighborhoods have gone through notable and often turbulent racial transitions. Green Line (CTA)
The Green Line is a rapid transit line on the Chicago Transit Authority's "L" system. It is a completely elevated route in the "L" system; all other routes may have various combinations of elevated, subway, street level (at grade), or freeway median sections. The Green Line utilizes the system's oldest segments, dating back to 1892, extending with 30 stops between Oak Park/Forest Park (Harlem/Lake) and Chicago's West Side, to the Loop, and then to the South Side neighborhoods of West Englewood (Ashland/63rd) and Woodlawn (Cottage Grove/63rd).
