Low Skies
Low Skies is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois. History Low Skies formed in 2000 after a chance meeting between Creps and Salveter. After deciding to record together, they played with a number of local musicians before settling on a permanent lineup. After signing with Flameshovel Records in 2002, the group released its debut full-length, ''The Bed'', in 2003. A five-track EP, ''I Have Been to Beautiful Places'', followed in 2004. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Slowcore
Slowcore is a subgenre of alternative rock and indie rock. The music of slowcore artists is generally characterized by bleak lyrics, downbeat melodies, slower tempos and minimalist arrangements. Slowcore is often used interchangeably with the term sadcore. Characteristics Slowcore is a fusion genre of indie rock and sadcore, characterized by minimal musical backing, played at extremely slow speeds. Slowcore songs often feature "depressing lyrics", according to Listverse. Swedish singer Stina Nordenstam has been described as slowcore because of "her sadly beautiful little-girl whisper" style of singing. Flameshovel Records
Flameshovel Records is a record label from Chicago, Illinois formed in the summer of 2000. Founded by Jesse Woghin and long-time friend Nash Grey, the duo were later joined by James Kenler. Grey left for Philadelphia in 2003 to start grad school but the remaining partners forged ahead. The label has since put out 43 releases, including releases by Maritime, Chin Up Chin Up, Lying in States, and Bound Stems. As of December 5, 2010, the label had not released an album since September 2007. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands.
