Robert Wohlmuth (1902–1987) was an Austrian film director and screenwriter. Following the Anschluss of 1938, Wohlmuth was forced to flee Austria. Artur Berger
Artur Semyonovich Berger (german: Arthur Berger, russian: Артур Семёнович Бергер; 27 May 1892 – 11 January 1981) was an Austrian-Soviet film architect and set designer. He was active in Austria between 1920 and 1936, during which time he worked on about 30 feature films. In 1936 he emigrated to the Soviet Union, where he continued to work on films until the early 1970s. Biography Born Arthur Berger in Vienna in 1892 to Jewish parents (Simon Berger, a civil servant, and his wife Pauline, née Beran), Berger was educated at the ''Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt'' and between 1911 and 1915 the '' Hochschule für angewandte Kunst in Wien'', where he was trained in architecture by the highly respected Jugendstil architects Josef Hoffmann and Oskar Strnad. Hugo Thimig
Hugo August Thimig (16 June 1854 – 24 September 1944), although born in Germany, spent his working life in Austria as an actor, director, and director of the ''Burgtheater'' in Vienna. Biography Thimig was the founding father of one of Austria's most famous theatrical families, but was born in Dresden, the son of a shoemaker. He worked in a grocery and attended a trade school before making several appearances on stage as an amateur in his home town. He made his professional debut in October 1872 in the town theatre of Bautzen. Within only two years, via the theatres in Zittau, Kamenz and Freiberg, Saxony, and the ''Lobe-Theater'' in Breslau, he obtained an engagement at the ''Burgtheater'', and arrived in Vienna in 1874 to take it up. A week before his 20th birthday he gave his first performance there as Didier in Charlotte Birch-Pfeiffer's ''Die Grille''. Oscar Beregi (born Oszkár Beregi, 24 January 1876 – 18 October 1965) was a Hungarian-Jewish actor who appeared primarily in German films. Biography Beregi was born in Budapest, Hungary, and was the father of actor Oscar Beregi Jr. He acted on stage in Hungary for 21 years. In April 1920, as "the only Jewish actor of prominence" acting with the Budapest National Theatre, he was the subject of a demonstration that led to the group's changing its program and presenting a play in which Beregi did not participate. In the early 1920s, Beregi was exiled from Hungary because of his "alleged political activities". During the exile he acted in Vienna for four years. He served as president of the Film Actors' Association of Vienna. Beregi appeared in 27 films between 1916 and 1953. He played Professor Baum in Fritz Lang's film ''Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse''. Emil Stepanek (21 February 1895 – 12 April 1945) was an Austrian set designer and film architect. Biography Stepanek was born in Vienna, the son of a carpenter, and received a training in stage set construction, in which he worked for several years. Between 1916 and 1918 he had to perform military service. After the end of World War I he returned to his work in theatres. In 1919 he had his first contact with the film industry.
