Love In E-Flat
''Love in E-Flat'' is a 1967 comedy play by Norman Krasna. Plot Teacher Amy is having an affair with intern Howard. He is jealous of her and bugs her apartment with a listening attack. Original production In August 1966 it was announced the production would be produced by Alfred de Liagre. The producer said he selected it over 500 other plays and liked that it was not concerned with the theatre of the absurd, the theatre of cruelty or theatre of sexual deviation. The following month George Seaton signed to direct; it was Seaton's first show for the legitimate theatre. By November Hal Buckley and Kathleen Nolan were cast. It opened February 13, 1967. "It's mild" said Walter Kerr of the ''New York Times''. "It's full of mild people... it's very discrete about its jokes... polite, professional, placid." Norman Krasna
Norman Krasna (November 7, 1909 – November 1, 1984) was an American screenwriter, playwright, producer, and film director who penned screwball comedies centered on a case of mistaken identity. Krasna directed three films during a forty-year career in Hollywood. He garnered four Academy Award screenwriting nominations, winning once for 1943's ''Princess O'Rourke'', which he also directed. Biography Early life Krasna was born in Queens, New York City. He attended Columbia University and St John's University School of Law, working at Macy's Department Store during the day. He wanted to get into journalism and talked his way into a job as a copy boy for the Sunday feature department of the ''New York World'' in 1928. George Seaton
George Seaton (April 17, 1911 – July 28, 1979) was an American screenwriter, playwright, film director and producer, and theatre director. Life and career Early life Seaton was born George Edward Stenius in South Bend, Indiana, of Swedish descent, the son of Olga (Berglund) and Charles Stenius, who was a chef and restaurant manager. He was baptized as Roman Catholic. He grew up in a Detroit Jewish neighborhood, and described himself as a " Shabas goy". So he went on to learn Hebrew in an Orthodox Jewish Yeshiva and was even bar mitzvahed. He attended Exeter and was meant to go to Yale but instead auditioned for Jesse Bonstelle's drama school in Detroit. Kathleen Nolan (born Joycelyn Schrum, September 27, 1933) is an American actress and former president of the Screen Actors Guild. From 1957 to 1962, she played Kate McCoy, a housewife, on the television series ''The Real McCoys''. Early years Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Nolan first appeared on stage on the showboat ''Goldenrod'' when she was 13 months old. She acted on the showboat for 12 years. Her family acted in tent shows and had their own troupe, the Circle Stock Company. She graduated from high school in St. Louis and sang on a radio station there. Stage On Broadway, Nolan played Wendy in the original production of the Styne-Comden-Green musical version of ''Peter Pan'' (1954–1955), starring Mary Martin and Cyril Ritchard, a role she repeated in both the 1955 and 1956 live NBC-TV broadcasts on ''Producers' Showcase''.
