''Love Swings'' is an album of standards by American singer Bobby Darin, released in 1961. It remained on the charts for only ten weeks and peaked at number 92. Reception In his Allmusic review, critic JT Griffith called the album "one of the most unheralded and under appreciated Bobby Darin albums" and is Darin's "most interesting conceptual approach to an album. The sequence of songs takes the listener on an emotional journey from love's first stirrings and its delirious heights to the first disillusionments and melancholy lows. Love Swings plays like two separate albums. While both sides are cohesive thematically, it is hard to listen to the sweet swinging sounds of side one and then eagerly flip to the more haunting and moody songs on side two. Howard Dietz
Howard Dietz (September 8, 1896 – July 30, 1983) was an American publicist, lyricist, and librettist, best remembered for his songwriting collaboration with Arthur Schwartz. Biography Dietz was born in New York City. He attended Columbia College and then studied journalism at Columbia University. He also served as publicist/director of advertising for Goldwyn Pictures and later MGM and is often credited with creating Leo the Lion, its lion mascot, and choosing their slogan '' Ars Gratia Artis''. In 1942, he was made MGM's Vice President in Charge of Publicity. He held that position until his retirement in 1957. Leo Robin (April 6, 1900 – December 29, 1984) was an American composer, lyricist and songwriter. Marty Symes (1904–1953) was an American lyricist. Symes was born in Brooklyn New York in 1904. His first significant collaborator was composer Jerry Livingston. In 1932 they wrote "Darkness on the Delta", which became a hit for Mildred Bailey. The next year the Casa Loma Orchestra recorded their "Under a Blanket of Blue" and "It's the Talk of the Town", both co-written with Al J. Neiburg. Isham Edgar Jones (January 31, 1894 – October 19, 1956) was an American bandleader, saxophonist, bassist and songwriter. Career Jones was born in Coalton, Ohio, United States, to a musical and mining family. His father, Richard Isham Jones (1865–1945), was a violinist.
