Love Handles (game Show)
''Love Handles'' was a Canadian television game show produced by Blair Murdoch from 1996 to 1998 on the Global Television Network, and hosted by Stu Jeffries. The show's announcer was David Kaye. The series had the same premise as the United States show ''The Newlywed Game'': Three married couples or mates competed, including occasional same gender couples,"ITV braves calls to can show with gay couples". ''Edmonton Journal'', February 28, 1996. to determine which couple knew each other the best. Like many of Murdoch's shows, ''Love Handles'' was taped at U.TV in Vancouver, British Columbia without a studio audience. The set had each team sitting on a love seat. Many episodes of ''Love Handles'' were rerun from 1999 to 2002 on Prime, and were later seen on GameTV, beginning in 2007. Episodes featuring same sex couples were also re-aired on OutTV (formerly PrideVision TV), while episodes can also be seen on the Canadian game show streaming service BonusRound. The channel was originally established by Canwest in 1997 as Prime, a cable companion to Global Television Network, Global with a general entertainment format focusing on classic series and programming acquired from Global and CH. Lower Third
In the television industry, a lower third is a graphic overlay placed in the title-safe lower area of the screen, though not necessarily the entire lower third of it, as the name suggests. In its simplest form, a lower third can just be text overlaying the video. Frequently this text is white with a drop shadow to make the words easier to read. A lower third can also contain graphical elements such as boxes, images or shading. Some lower thirds have animated backgrounds and text. Lower thirds can be created using basic home-video editing software or professional-level equipment. This equipment makes use of video's alpha channel to determine what parts of the graphic or text should be transparent, allowing the video in the background to show through. GameTV is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by Anthem Sports & Entertainment. It currently broadcasts a mixture of game shows, reality competition series, and films. The channel was first launched in 2005 under the ownership of Stuart Media Group as Casino and Gaming Television (CGTV), which primarily focused on sports betting and televised poker.
