Love Don't Hate It
"Love Don't Hate It" is a song by Dutch singer-songwriter Duncan Laurence. It was released as a digital download on 23 October 2019 by Spark Records as the second single from his debut studio album '' Small Town Boy'', the song also features on his debut EP '' Worlds on Fire''. It is the follow-up to " Arcade", Laurence's winning entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Background Laurence previously stated that he did not want to rush out a follow-up to "Arcade", but rather take his time and wait until he found the right song. ''De Telegraaf'' announced on 14 October that fans that had attended Laurence's performance in Nijmegen were told the follow-up single would be "Love Don't Hate It". Laurence called it "a song about fighting for who you are and who you choose to love" and his "answer against the hate in the world, that will always keep trying to break down what we crave most: love". ''Small Town Boy'' is the debut studio album by Dutch singer Duncan Laurence. It was released on 13 November 2020 by Spark Records. The album includes the singles "Arcade", " Love Don't Hate It", " Someone Else", "Last Night" and " Feel Something". A deluxe edition of the album was released on 21 May 2021, containing three additional tracks: "Stars", "Sad Old Me" and "I Got You". Background He wrote the album with the help of his boyfriend Jordan Garfield. He said, "We really got to know each other way better through writing music too because you share stories together in a whole different way and you go really deep into those stories and maybe sometimes you get to express emotions that you wouldn't normally express if it's not in writing a song." He also produced a lot of songs on the album and will direct many of his upcoming music videos. The Dutch Top 40 ( nl, Nederlandse Top 40) is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Joost den Draaijer initiated the Top 40 in the Netherlands. The show currently airs on Fridays from 2 to 6 PM on Qmusic. Ilse Annoeska de Lange (born 13 May 1977), better known as Ilse DeLange, is a Dutch country and pop rock singer-songwriter. As a member of The Common Linnets, she finished in second place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. Biography Ilse Annoeska de Lange was born on 13 May 1977 in Almelo, Netherlands. She started her career at the age of 8 as a lip-synching artist, which won her several contests. BNNVARA () is a broadcasting association and network within the Dutch public broadcasting system. History BNNVARA was founded on 1 January 2014 through a merger of the BNN (founded 1997) and VARA (founded 1925) associations. These continued to exist without broadcasting directly until 2018. In 2011 VARA and BNN announced that they would merge. On 6 November 2011 the members of VARA voted for the merger, after the member council of BNN had already done so a week earlier. The merger was opposed by the VVD and the Freedom Party. BNN and VARA announced on 8 February 2012 that the decision to merge was definite. On 1 September 2018, existing members of BNN and VARA were converted into members of BNNVARA, thus ending the separate member associations that still existed.
