Louth Intermediate Football Championship
The Louth Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition, organised by Louth GAA, among the intermediate grade Gaelic football clubs in County Louth, Ireland. History The competition, introduced as a bridge between the senior and junior grades, was first staged in 1907 and annually until 1912, when the county board discontinued it. It was revived 32 years later in 1944. However, the competition was only staged twice before it lapsed again. It re-emerged permanently on the county scene in 1978 with Kilkerley Emmets becoming the first winners of the Seamus Flood Cup. Trophy The winning team is presented with the Seamus Flood Cup, named after the Dundalk GAA official (d. April 1970) and Clan na Gael club member who was chairman of Leinster GAA from 1939 to 1941. Kilkerley Emmets GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Naomh Malachi GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organized by Louth GAA. History Founded in 1966, Naomh Malachi is located in the townland of Courtbane, part of Hackballscross, in an area of north Louth just a short distance from the border with County Armagh. Dundalk Young Irelands GFC is a GAA club from Dundalk, County Louth, which fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by the Louth county board. The club was formed in the same year as the Gaelic Athletic Association, making it the oldest club in Louth and one of the oldest in Ireland. History The club was founded in 1884 by members of the Dundalk Young Ireland Society. A team was entered in the inaugural Louth Senior Football Championship of 1887 which went on to win the competition, defeating Dowdallshill in the final on a scoreline of 0–03 to 0–02. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was also held for the first time that year. O'Raghallaighs GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. The club fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. The club has GAA Handball teams and the ladies football team is an amalgamation with the Slane Road team Oliver Plunketts GFC, forming the O'Raghallaighs/Oliver Plunketts Ladies GAA. Seán O'Mahony's GFC
Seán O'Mahony's GFC is a Gaelic football club based in Dundalk, County Louth. History The club was founded in 1938 and named after the Irish republican Seán O'Mahony. They won the 2014 Louth Intermediate Football Championship and went on to win that year's Leinster Intermediate Club Football Championship. In 2015 the club reached the final of the Louth Senior Football Championship for the first time and won it in 2016 by defeating St Mary's of Ardee. O'Mahony's then advanced to the 2016–17 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship, defeating Baltinglass and Newbridge Sarsfields before losing 0–12 to 1–05 in the Leinster semi-final against Rhode at the Gaelic Grounds. Shane Lennon
Shane Lennon is a former inter-county Gaelic footballer from County Louth, Ireland. He played with the Louth county team and continues to represent his local club side Kilkerley Emmets. He was part of the Louth team that played in the final of the Leinster Senior Football Championship in 2010, but were beaten in controversial circumstances by Meath. He helped Louth to win Tommy Murphy Cup and National League Division 2 titles in 2006. Shane works for Louth GAA as games development manager. Dowdallshill GF & AC is a GAA club from Dundalk, County Louth, which fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. Of the six gaelic football clubs in the Dundalk urban area, Dowdallshill is the only one located north of the Castletown River. History The Dowdallshill club was founded in 1886, making it one of the oldest gaelic football teams in Ireland. They contested the inaugural Louth Senior Football Championship final in 1887 against Dundalk Young Irelands, who beat them by 0–03 to 0–02 at Haggardstown. 1934 was a vintage year for the club. Lann Léire CPG is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. It is based in the County Louth town of Dunleer. St Mochta's GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club that fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. It is based in the village of Louth, where Saint Mochta is said to have founded a monastery in the 6th century. Both the club and the football ground, which has been a frequent venue for county finals, are named in his honour. In 2021 the club reached the final of the Louth Senior Football Championship for the first time. Their side, which included former AFL player and Louth county footballer Ciarán Byrne, lost by eleven points to defending champions Naomh Máirtín at Ardee's Páirc Mhuire.
