Cass County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 25,241. Its county seat and largest city is Plattsmouth. The county was formed in 1855, and was named for General Lewis Cass. Cass County is included in the Omaha- Council Bluffs, NE- IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. In the Nebraska license plate system, Cass County is represented by the prefix 20 (it had the 20th-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922). Louisville is a city in Cass County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,106 at the 2010 census. History The first permanent settlement at Louisville was made in 1857. Louisville was platted in about 1870 when the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad was extended to that point. The community was likely named after the city of Louisville, Kentucky. Nebraska Highway 50 (N-50) is a north–south highway in the state of Nebraska. The southern terminus is at the Nebraska-Kansas border near Du Bois. The northern terminus is in the Millard neighborhood of Omaha at an intersection with U.S. Highway 275 (US 275) and N-92. It is a two lane highway except for the section from Springfield north to the southern edge of the Millard neighborhood in Omaha, which is a divided highway. Route description N-50 begins at the Kansas border south of Du Bois. The highway extends into Kansas as K-63. It runs through farmland, passes through Du Bois, and meets N-8. The two highways overlap, first by going north and then by going west, into Pawnee City. In Pawnee City, the overlap with N-8 ends and a new one with N-65 begins.
