Louisiana Tech University Athletic Hall Of Fame
The Louisiana Tech University Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1984 to honor student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and benefactors who have been highly successful at Louisiana Tech and who have distinguished themselves professionally. To be eligible for induction into the Louisiana Tech Athletic Hall of Fame, an athlete must have completed his or her college eligibility at least five years prior to the selection, and coaches and administrators must have completed their careers at Louisiana Tech at least three years before induction. Fred Dean
Frederick Rudolph Dean (February 24, 1952 – October 14, 2020) was an American professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). A twice first-team All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowler, he won two Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008. Dean played college football for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. He was selected in the second round of the 1975 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He was traded to San Francisco in 1981 due to a contract dispute. He is a member of both the Chargers and 49ers Hall of Fame. Thomas Allen Spinks, known as Tommy Spinks (October 29, 1948 – August 26, 2007), was an American football wide receiver. He played college football for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Spinks set two records in the 1968 Grantland Rice Bowl, when he caught 12 passes for 167 yards. After his Tech career, Spinks was selected in the 1970 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, but never played in an NFL game. Spinks was inducted into the Louisiana Tech University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988. Larry Anderson (American Football)
Lawrence Andrew Anderson (born September 25, 1956) is a former professional American football player who played cornerback and kick returner for seven seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts. Anderson started his football career at Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana, where he played running back and defensive back, while also returning kicks and punts, and was a member of the school's 1972 state championship team. He went on play college football at Louisiana Tech University. Joining the team as a walk on, he did not play in any games until his senior season in 1977. That year, Anderson was the nation's second-leading punt returner, with 44 punt returns for 441 yards and two touchdowns. Milton Eugene "Mickey" Slaughter (born August 22, 1941) is a former professional American football quarterback in the American Football League and assistant coach at Louisiana Tech. He was raised in Alexandria, Louisiana and played quarterback for Coach Maxie Lambright at Bolton High School, where he graduated in 1959. He then played college football for Hall of Fame Coach Joe Aillet at Louisiana Tech, where he was a three-time all-conference quarterback before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. Slaughter was drafted in the 7th round by the Denver Broncos, where he played his entire four-year career. Though he set several franchise rookie records in 1963 that stand to this day, he compiled just a 1-5-1 record as a starter.
