Louisiana Highway 75
Louisiana Highway 75 (LA 75) is a state highway located in southeastern Louisiana. It runs in a general east–west direction from a dead end in Bayou Pigeon to the junction of LA 22 and LA 942 in Darrow. The route makes a semi-circle through Iberville and Ascension parishes. About halfway along the way, it passes through the city of Plaquemine and crosses the Mississippi River via ferry. LA 75 travels through a variety of surroundings, ranging from remote swampland along the Grand River on its western end to a mixture of rural farmland and petrochemical plants along the Mississippi River on its eastern end. Major junctions include LA 1 in Plaquemine, the main route connecting the communities situated along the west bank of the Mississippi River. Louisiana Department Of Transportation And Development
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is a state government organization in the United States, in charge of maintaining public transportation, roadways, bridges, canals, select levees, floodplain management, port facilities, commercial vehicles, and aviation which includes 69 airports, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The agency has approximately five thousand personnel on staff and an operating budget of $2.3 billion. DOTD operations are run through nine district offices across the state. The current DOTD Secretary is Shawn D. Wilson, appointed in January 2016 by Governor John Bel Edwards. Louisiana Highway 30 (LA 30) is a state highway located in southeastern Louisiana. It runs in a northwest to southeast direction from LA 73 in Baton Rouge to the junction of U.S. Highway 61 (US 61) and LA 431 east of Gonzales. The route connects Downtown Baton Rouge with Louisiana State University and travels through the western portion of the campus. Sunshine, Louisiana
Sunshine is a northern neighborhood of the city of St. Gabriel in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, United States. Located approximately 15 miles south of Baton Rouge along the Mississippi River, the community was originally named Forlorn Hope by inhabitants but was given its current name by Oscar Richard, Sr., who was the post master of the Forlorn Hope, La. post office. He petitioned the federal government for permission to change the name of the post office to Sunshine, La., in order to give it a more uplifting name. As frequently happens, the villages took the name of the local post office; hence, the name of the village and community became known as Sunshine, La.
