Louise Burfitt-Dons
Louise Burfitt-Dons, (''née'' Byres; born 22 October 1953) is a British novelist, humanitarian, and former Conservative candidate. Burfitt-Dons is best known for her anti-bullying work as the founder of the charity Act Against Bullying and co-founder of Kindness Day UK. Early years and family Louise Olivian Byres was born to Olive and Ian Byres in a small desert hospital at Magwa, in the Burgan district just south of Kuwait City. Her father worked for Kuwait Oil Company and her mother ran a kindergarten. She had an elder brother, Laurence. She attended the Anglo-American School in Kuwait, and later The Hertfordshire and Essex High School and the Ashford School for Girls in Kent. Burfitt-Dons' father died of cancer when she was 26. During his illness she obtained a liquor licence and took over the running of The White Horse in East Bergholt so she could care for him. Ian Collins is a British radio and television presenter and journalist and author. Radio career Collins became a presenter on Invicta FM in Kent. He joined the newly launched Talk Radio UK in 1995, which later became Talk Sport. He presented the Overnight show, ''Ian Collins and the Creatures of the Night'' from 1995 to 2002, then the Late-Night Weekend Show, ''Ian Collins: Unbranded'' from 2002 to 2004, replacing Tommy Boyd. Collins replaced Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs on the afternoon show from for a short time at the start of the Iraq War in 2003. In 2004, he replaced Mike Dickin on the mid morning show, including a spell co-hosting the show with Mike Parry. Conservative Way Forward (CWF) is a British pressure and campaigning group, which is Thatcherite in its outlook and agenda. Margaret Thatcher was its founding President. Conservative Way Forward was founded in 1991 to "defend and build upon the achievements of the Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher's leadership, and to adapt the principles of her era in government to modern concerns and challenges". The group organises speaker meetings, seminars and receptions, supported and attended by Government Ministers past and future. In all leadership elections since 1997, the candidate supported by Conservative Way Forward has ultimately won. ''The World Tonight'' is a British current affairs radio programme broadcast on BBC Radio 4, every weekday evening, which started out as an extension of the 10 pm news.
