Louise, Queen Of Prussia (film)
''Louise, Queen of Prussia'' (german: Luise, Königin von Preußen) is a 1931 German historical drama film directed by Carl Froelich and starring Henny Porten, Gustaf Gründgens, and Ekkehard Arendt. The film's art director was Franz Schroedter. It depicts the life of Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1776–1810), the wife of Frederick William III of Prussia. It forms part of the Prussian film Prussian films were a cycle of historical films made in Germany during the Weimar (1918–1933) and Nazi (1933–1945) eras noted for their general glorification of Prussian history and its military. The films are set during the eighteenth and ni ... genre. The film was produced by Porten's own production company, founded during the silent era when she was a dominant German star. Carl Froelich
Carl August Hugo Froelich (5 September 1875 – 12 February 1953) was a German film pioneer and film director. He was born and died in Berlin. Biography Apparatus builder and cameraman From 1903 Froelich was a colleague of Oskar Messter, one of the advance guard of German cinema, for whom initially he worked on the construction of cinematographic equipment. As cameraman for Messter's weekly newsreels he filmed among many other things the aftermath of a train accident on the Berlin elevated railway on 28 September 1908, one of the worst transport disasters of the time. Film director and producer Between 1912 and 1951 he made 77 films. In 1913 Froelich made his directorial debut with ''Richard Wagner (film), Richard Wagner''. Frederick William III (german: Friedrich Wilhelm III.; 3 August 1770 – 7 June 1840) was King of Prussia from 16 November 1797 until his death in 1840. He was concurrently Elector of Brandenburg in the Holy Roman Empire until 6 August 1806, when the Empire was dissolved. Inge Landgut
Inge Landgut (23 November 1922 – 29 May 1986) was a German child actress. She is probably best-remembered for playing Pony Hütchen in ''Emil and the Detectives'' and as the child murder victim Elsie Beckmann in Fritz Lang's classic '' M'', both films were released in 1931. Landgut continued her acting career into adulthood, making both film and television appearances. During her later years, Inge Landgut also worked frequently in the German voice-dubbing business.
