Louis M. Martin
Louis Marshall Martin (November 25, 1863 – March 1940) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. Life He was born on November 25, 1863, in Madison, Madison County, New York. He attended school and worked on the family farm. He graduated from Hamilton Union School in 1880, and from Clinton Grammar School in 1885. From 1887 to 1890, he taught school, and read law. In 1888, he was elected a Justice of the Peace in the Town of Kirkland. In 1889, he married M. Louise Foucher (1869–1956). He was Principal of the Clinton Public School from 1889 to 1890 when he was admitted to the bar. He practiced law in Clinton, and entered politics as a Republican. Martin was a member of the New York State Assembly (Oneida Co., 2nd D.) in 1898, 1899 and 1900; and was Chairman of the Committee on Internal Affairs of Towns and Counties in 1900. Madison is a town in Madison County, New York, United States. The population was 3,008 at the 2010 census. The Town of Madison contains a village also named Madison. The town is near the eastern border of the county. History Settlement began ''circa'' 1794. The town was formed in 1807 from a portion of the Town of Hamilton. Madison is well known because of the Madison Wind Farm, built in 2000. Darwin D. Martin, a Larkin Company executive, was born in Bouckville in 1865. Geography The northern and eastern town lines are the border of Oneida County. US Route 20 passes across the town. Whitman's governorship, in Albany. William Cary Sanger
William Cary Sanger, Sr. (May 21, 1853 – December 6, 1921) was an American politician who served as the United States Assistant Secretary of War from 1901 to 1903. Biography He was born on May 21, 1853 in Brooklyn, New York City to Henry Sanger (1823-1888) and Mary E. Requa (1835-1910). He attended Brooklyn Polytechnic and then Harvard College, where he graduated with an A.B. in 1874. He received an LL.B. from Columbia University in 1878. He was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1895 to 1897. He married Mary Ethel Cleveland Dodge (1869-1952). He was the United States Assistant Secretary of War from 1901 to 1903. He received an LL.D. from Hamilton College in 1902. He was president of the American delegation to the Geneva Conventions of 1906. From 1911 to 1913 he served on the New York State Hospital Commission. He died on December 6, 1921 in Brooklyn. He was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery. His widow died in 1952. The Supreme Court of the State of New York is the trial-level court of general jurisdiction in the New York State Unified Court System. (Its Appellate Division is also the highest intermediate appellate court.)
