Louis Boigues
Jean Louis Boigues (25 April 1784 – 14 November 1838) was a French industrialist and politician. Family Jean Louis Boigues was born on 25 April 1784 in Lascelle, Cantal. The Boigues family seems to have moved from Catalonia to France in the 17th century. His parents were Pierre Boigues (1755–1820) and Catherine Brousse (1764–1848). His father was a rich Parisian iron merchant. His family married into newly wealthy aristocratic families. Marie Boigues, sister of Louis Boigues, married Count Hippolyte Jaubert. Jaubert was the nephew and adopted son of Francois Jaubert, a wealthy and powerful regent of the Bank of France. Another sister, Gabrielle Boigues (1788–1855), married Claude Hochet on 5 September 1807, when Hochet was secretary of the Contentious Affairs Committee. Société Boigues & Cie
The Société Boigues & Cie (originally Boigues et fils) was a French ironmaking company based in Fourchambault, Nièvre, founded by a Parisian metal trader. Boigues et fils built a foundry at Fourchambault, Nièvre in 1821–22, the first in France to use the modern English technique of making iron using coal (coke) rather than charcoal. The company became a limited partnership, Société Boigues & Cie, in 1839 after the death of the co-founder Jean Louis Boigues. In 1853 it merged with other companies to form what would be later named the Société de Commentry, Fourchambault et Decazeville Origins Pierre Bouygues (1755–1820) had a business in Paris during the Directory and Empire that bought and sold old iron, lead, copper, pewter, bell metal and whole bells. The July Monarchy (french: Monarchie de Juillet), officially the Kingdom of France (french: Royaume de France), was a liberal constitutional monarchy in France under , starting on 26 July 1830, with the July Revolution of 1830, and ending 23 February 1848, with the Revolution of 1848.
