Louis-Saint-Laurent () is a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. It was created in 2003 from parts of Portneuf (electoral district), Portneuf and Quebec East ridings. Geography The riding, in the Quebec region of Capitale-Nationale, consists of the northwestern part of Quebec City, including parts of the boroughs of Laurentien (Quebec City), Laurentien, Les Rivières (Quebec City), Les Rivières, and La Haute-Saint-Charles (Quebec City), La Haute-Saint-Charles, along with the Wendake, Quebec, Wendake Indian reserve and the city of L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, L'Ancienne-Lorette. Gérard Deltell (born August 8, 1964) is a Canadians, Canadian politician who has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Louis-Saint-Laurent (electoral district), Louis-Saint-Laurent since 2015. A member of the Conservative Party of Canada, Conservative Party, Deltell was Opposition House Leader from 2020 to 2022 under Erin O'Toole and held a number of Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet of the 42nd Parliament of Canada, opposition critic positions. Alexandrine Latendresse
Alexandrine Latendresse (born April 30, 1984) was the New Democratic Party Member of Parliament for Louis-Saint-Laurent and was elected in the 2011 Canadian federal election. She defeated former Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Josée Verner of the Conservative Party. She had earlier run in Louis-Saint-Laurent in the 2008 federal election, but lost. Latendresse introduced Bill C-419, which would require future officers of Parliament to be able to function in both official languages without the help of an interpreter. Latendresse declined to run again in the 2015 election, saying the pace of parliamentary debate had lost its appeal for her. Represented in the House of Commons since 1968, its population was certified, according to the detailed statistics of 2001, as 98,156. Geography The district, in the Quebec region of Capitale-Nationale, consists of the southern part of Quebec City, and is largely coextensive with the borough of Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge. She represented the electoral district of Louis-Saint-Laurent in the House of Commons of Canada from 2006 to 2011 as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Quebec East (also known as Québec-Est and Québec East) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 2004. While its boundaries changed over the decades, it was essentially made up of the eastern part of Quebec City and was largely of working class composition. It was created in 1867. L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec
L'Ancienne-Lorette is a city in central Quebec, Canada. It is a suburb of and an enclave within Quebec City. It was merged with Quebec City on January 1, 2002 as part of a 2000–2006 municipal reorganization in Quebec, but, after a 2004 referendum, it was reconstituted as a separate city on January 1, 2006. Its history dates to 1674, when a group of Huron (Wyandot) fleeing war with the Iroquois settled there under the protection of the French. It was founded as a mission village by the Jesuits.
