Louis-Pierre Hélie
Louis-Pierre Hélie (born 1 January 1986 at Berthierville, Quebec) is a Canadian alpine and freestyle skier. He competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver in the men's super combined competition. He made a total of 30 starts on the Alpine Skiing World Cup, with his best result being a 13th place at the Val Gardena downhill in 2010. Subsequently in 2012 he switched from alpine skiing to ski cross, making his debut on the FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup at the first ski cross event of the 2012–13 season in Nakiska Nakiska is a ski resort in western Canada, in the Kananaskis Country region of the province of Alberta. FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup
The FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup is an annual freestyle skiing competition arranged by the International Ski Federation since 1980. Currently six disciplines are included in world cup: moguls, aerials, ski cross, halfpipe, slopestyle and big air. In the 1980s and 1990s there were also ski ballet and combined, which no longer exist. Races are hosted primarily at ski resorts in North America, the Alps in Europe, with regular stops in Scandinavia, east Asia, but a few races have also been held in the Southern Hemisphere. Ski Cross
Ski cross is a skiing competition which incorporates terrain features traditionally found in freestyle skiing with courses which include big-air jumps and high-banked turns. In spite of the fact that it is a timed racing event, it is often considered a type of freestyle skiing. What sets ski cross apart from other alpine skiing disciplines is that it involves more than one skier racing down the course. Any intentional contact with other competitors like grabbing or any other forms of contact meant to give the competitor an advantage leads to disqualification. Val Gardena
Val Gardena (; german: Gröden ; lld, Gherdëina ) is a valley in Northern Italy, in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. It is best known as a tourist skiing, rock climbing, and woodcarving area. Geography The valley's main river is the Derjon, a tributary of the Eisack river. The mountains that surround the valley are formed by dolomite rocks, which confer on them a characteristic appearance. Most of the steep slopes are covered by pine woods. The favoured cultivations are barley, rye, potatoes, flax, buckwheat. The three municipalities in Val Gardena are Urtijëi, Sëlva, and Santa Cristina; they were served by the Val Gardena Railway from 1916 until 1960.
