Losen Records
Losen Records (initiated 2010 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label founded by Odd Gjelsnes at the distribution company MusikkLosen. Background The distribution company MusikkLosen was founded in 1997 by Odd Gjelsnes, and Losen Records, which is under the operation of MusikkLosen, had its first album release with the album ''Norwegian Song 3'' by Dag Arnesen in late 2010. MusikkLosen distributes music in the genres jazz, classical, rock, blues, ethnic, soundtracks and more. The company is currently (2014) working on its 27th album release within the last three years. Oslo, Norway
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence. After being destroyed by a fire in 1624, during the reign of King Christian IV, a new city was built closer to Akershus Fortress and named Christiania in honour of the king. Synnøve Rognlien
Saint Sunniva (10th century; Old Norse ''Sunnifa'', from Old English ''Sunngifu'') is the patron saint of the Norwegian Church of Norway Diocese of Bjørgvin, as well as all of Western Norway. Sunniva was venerated alongside her brother Alban, who in Norwegian tradition was identified with Saint Alban, the Roman-era British saint. Legend ''Acta sanctorum in Selio'' is a Latin hagiography of saints Alban and Sunniva and their companions. It is believed to have been composed shortly after 1170. Oddr Snorrason made use of it in his ''Óláfs saga Tryggvasonar'', in a section known as ''Albani þáttr ok Sunnifu'' ("tale of Alban and Sunniva") and also as ''Seljumanna þáttr''. Oddr's original work was composed in Latin but only survives in an Old Icelandic translation. The legend was also included in the later compilation ''Óláfs saga Tryggvasonar en mesta''. Håvard Gimse
Håvard Gimse (born 15 September 1966) is a Norwegian classical pianist from Kongsvinger, and the brother of the cellist Øyvind Gimse. He has received the Griegprisen (1996) and the Steinway Award (1995). Gimse has done several recordings for Naim Audio, Naxos Records, Sony Classical Records, Chandos Records and Simax catalog, Simax. Career Gimse is described as one of Norway's leading musicians, with a bold and expansive repertoire, and an impressive list of 30 performed piano concertos. He is much sought after as a concert pianist, as well as an accompanist for many of Scandinavia's finest artists. After earning his diploma at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin in 1995 (Leygraf), he continued his studies with the revered piano professor Jiri Hlinka in Norway.
