Los Remedios
Los Remedios is a district of Seville, the regional capital of Andalusia, Spain. It is located on the Isla de La Cartuja, south of the district of Triana, between two forks of the Guadalquivir river. It is linked by bridge to the city centre ( Casco Antiguo) and the districts of Distrito Sur and Bellavista-La Palmera. From the western side of the island, it is linked by road bridge to the city of San Juan de Aznalfarache and shares a boundary in the Guadalquivir with the city of Gelves. The southern tip of La Cartuja is opposite the municipality of Dos Hermanas. Los Remedios takes its name from a Carmelite convent of the same name found in the district. Before urban development in the latter half of the 20th century, the convent was one of the few structures in what is now Los Remedios. Distrito De Los Remedios
Rudy Distrito (born May 17, 1958 in Bacolod), is a retired Filipino professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. His moniker is The Destroyer because of his rugged and intense brand of play. Amateur career For three years, Distrito played collegiate basketball in the University of the East under coach Filo Pumaren and at the same time played for Crispa in the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association, MICAA. Professional career Distrito was recruited by Crispa Redmanizers, Crispa and played with the Redmanizers from 1981 to 1982. After Crispa, he was acquired by Sanyu Group of Companies, which took over from the U/tex franchise, he played for the team for nearly two seasons and was shipped to San Miguel Beermen, Gold Eagle Beermen in late 1984. Bellavista-La Palmera
200px, Bellavista-La Palmera (red) within Seville (yellow). Bellavista-La Palmera is a district of the city of Seville, the regional capital of the Spanish region of Andalusia. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Guadalquivir river, to the south of the city centre ( Casco Antiguo). Geography The district is bordered by the Distrito Sur to the north. To the west, across the river on the Isla de La Cartuja, it borders the district of Los Remedios. The neighbouring municipality of Dos Hermanas borders the district to the east and south. The Guadaira river flows through the district before joining the Guadalquivir. The only territory in the whole of Seville to the south of the Guadaira is the neighbourhood of Bellavista, which transferred into the district from Dos Hermanas. La Cartuja
''Isla de la Cartuja'' (; ) is an island in the Guadalquivir River at Seville, Spain. The island's name derives from the cloistered monastery (Cartuja) located on the site, the '' Monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas'', where Cristopher Columbus lived when planning the voyage to the west. The world's fair to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the first Columbian expeditions, the Expo '92 was located here. Before 1992, the island was completely isolated between two Guadalquivir river branches. After the rearrangement of the river channel system on the occasion of Expo '92, it was joined to mainland by a wide isthmus in the South with Triana neighbourhood. Seville Fair
The Seville Fair (officially and in es, Feria de Abril de Sevilla, "Seville April Fair") is held in the Andalusian capital of Seville, Spain. The fair generally begins two weeks after the Semana Santa, or Easter Holy Week. The fair officially begins at midnight on Saturday, and runs seven days, ending on the following Saturday. Each day the fiesta begins with the parade of carriages and riders, at midday, carrying Seville's leading citizens which make their way to the bullring, La Real Maestranza, where the bullfighters and breeders meet. For the duration of the fair, the fairgrounds and a vast area on the far bank of the Guadalquivir River are totally covered in rows of ''casetas'' (individual decorated marquee tents which are temporarily built on the fairground). El Arenal, Seville
El Arenal is a neighbourhood in the historical centre of Seville, the Casco Antiguo. It lies on the east bank of the Guadalquivir river to the west of the old Jewish Quarter, Santa Cruz, and south of the neighbourhoods of Museo and Alfalfa. Its name comes from the sandy nature that this east bank of the river once used to have. El Arenal has a history characterised by its former position as the port of Seville, until river silting forced the city to relocate the port to the southern edge of the city in the 17th century. In the 16th century, the district called El Compás de Arenal, El Compás, or El Arenal was smaller than that of today and lay between the city walls and the river between the Puerta del Arenal, and the Puerta del Triana gates. Dos Hermanas
Dos Hermanas () is a Spanish city south of Seville in Andalusia, with a population of 131,317 as of 2015. History The city's name, which means "two sisters", dates from its founding in 1248 by King Ferdinand III of Castile and honours Elvira and Estefanía Nazareno, the two sisters of Gonzalo Nazareno, one of the king's principal military commanders. For this reason natives of Dos Hermanas are called ''nazarenos/as''. Gelves
Gelves is a city located in the Seville (province), province of Seville, in Andalusia, Spain. According to the 2006 census (Instituto Nacional de Estadística (Spain), INE), the city has a population of 8,325 inhabitants. It lies on the west bank of the Guadalquivir river. The city of Gelves is not to be confused with Los Gelves, the Spanish name for the island of Djerba off the coast of Tunisia, where the Spanish fought important battles in 1510 and 1520. Gelves is in the metropolitan agglomeration of the regional capital, Seville, but is a separate municipality, bordering to the north with San Juan de Aznalfarache, west with Mairena del Aljarafe and southwest with Palomares del Río, which are also in the conurbation. San Juan de Aznalfarache is a city located in the province of Seville, Spain. According to the 2006 census (INE), the city has a population of 20,121 inhabitants. Despite being a separate municipality, San Juan is in the metropolitan area of Seville, to which it lies on an opposite bank of the Guadalquivir river. The Casco Antiguo (Spanish for ''Ancient District'') is the city centre Districts and neighbourhoods of Seville, district of Seville, the capital of the Spanish region of Andalusia. Guadalquivir
The Guadalquivir (, also , , ) is the fifth-longest river in the Iberian Peninsula and the second-longest river with its entire length in Spain. The Guadalquivir is the only major navigable river in Spain. Currently it is navigable from the Gulf of Cádiz to Seville, but in Roman times it was navigable to Córdoba.
