Los Machucos
Los Machucos, o Colláu Espina, is a mountain pass in the easternmost sector of the Cantabrian Mountains, known as the Pas Mountains, in Cantabria, Spain. It is located at above sea level and communicates the villages of Bustablado and San Roque de Riomiera. It is known for its slopes between 15-20%, reaching 28% at certain points. At the summit, there is a Monument to the Pasiega cattle. In cycling, it was climbed for the first time in the 2017 Vuelta a España, when it was used as the finish of stage 17. Cantabria
Cantabria (, also , , Cantabrian: ) is an autonomous community in northern Spain with Santander as its capital city. It is called a ''comunidad histórica'', a historic community, in its current Statute of Autonomy. Pasiega Cattle
The Pasiega is a traditional Spanish breed of red dairy cattle from the autonomous community of Cantabria in northern Spain. It originated in the Valles Pasiegos in south-eastern Cantabria. The name derives from that of the Pas River, which flows through that region. Because of the colour of its coat it may also be known as the Roja Pasiega or Rojina. The Pasiega was believed to be extinct until the late twentieth century, when a surviving group was identified. The breed was officially recognised in 2007. It is one of only two autochthonous Spanish breeds of dairy cattle, the other being the Menorquina of Menorca in the Balearic Islands. 2017 Vuelta A España
The 2017 Vuelta a España was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that took place in Spain between 19 August and 10 September 2017. The race was the 72nd edition of the Vuelta a España and the final Grand Tour of the 2017 cycling season. The race started in Nîmes, France, and finished in Madrid. It was the first time the race has started in France and only the third time it has started outside Spain, after 1997 (Portugal) and 2009 (Netherlands). The 2019 Vuelta a España was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that took place in Spain, Andorra and France between 24 August and 15 September 2019. The race was the 74th edition of the Vuelta a España and is the final Grand Tour of the 2019 cycling season. The race started with a team time trial in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca. The race was won by Primož Roglič of , making him the first Slovenian rider to win a Grand Tour. Rounding out the podium were Alejandro Valverde of in second and Roglič's countryman Tadej Pogačar of in third. Along with the overall, Roglič also took the points classification.
