Los Gatos Creek Park
Los Gatos Creek Park is a county park in Campbell, California, a town that is bisected by the Los Gatos Creek. The park is operated by the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department. Main access The main entrance for vehicular, bike and pedestrian access is via Lost Lake Lane, which is reached via Dell Avenue, just north of East Hacienda Avenue. A parking lot is at the end of the access lane. The San Tomas Expressway exit from California State Route 17 that runs just to the east of the park provides easy access via Winchester Blvd south and East Hacienda Avenue. Bike and pedestrian access via the Los Gatos Creek Trail The Los Gatos Creek Trail runs through the park, north and south. There is a nearby trail access point from the south at Knowles Drive through a parking lot. Campbell is a city in Santa Clara County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, Campbell's population is 43,959. Campbell is home to the Pruneyard Shopping Center, a sprawling open-air retail complex which was involved in a famous U.S. Supreme Court case that established the extent of the right to free speech in California. Los Gatos Creek (Santa Clara County, California)
The Los Gatos Creek runs in California through Santa Clara Valley Water District's Guadalupe Watershed from the Santa Cruz Mountains northward through the Santa Clara Valley until its confluence with the Guadalupe River in downtown San Jose. The Guadalupe River then continues onward into San Francisco Bay. The creek begins in the Santa Cruz mountains near the Santa Clara/ Santa Cruz County border, just south of the peak Loma Prieta. It then flows northwesterly to Lake Elsman, a reservoir owned by the San Jose Water Company, then on to Holy City and Chemeketa Park, then northward into the Lexington Reservoir. Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department, sometimes referred to as Santa Clara County Parks Department or Santa Clara County Parks, is a government department in Santa Clara County, California. State Route 17 (SR 17, locally known as Highway 17) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs from State Route 1 in Santa Cruz to I-280 and I-880 in San Jose. SR 17, a freeway and expressway, carries substantial commuter and vacation traffic through the Santa Cruz Mountains at Patchen Pass ("The Summit") between Santa Cruz and the San Francisco Bay Area. Los Gatos Creek Trail
The Los Gatos Creek Trail is a 9.7-mile (15.6 km) pedestrian and bicycle trail that runs through western Santa Clara County in California, from Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos, California through Campbell, California to Meridian Avenue in San Jose, California alongside Los Gatos Creek. The Pruneyard Shopping Center is a open-air shopping center located in Campbell, California, at the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Bascom Avenue, just east of State Route 17. Built in the 1960s as the PruneYard Shopping Center, it includes in addition to shops an inn, a DoubleTree by Hilton, and a movie theater originally built in 1964 and also three office towers built in 1970, one of which is the tallest building in the area outside downtown San Jose. Vasona Lake County Park is a park located in Los Gatos, California and part of the Santa Clara County Parks system. Vasona Park surrounds the Vasona Reservoir. El Rancho Rinconada de los Gatos was a Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Clara County, California made in 1840 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Jose Maria Hernandez and Sebastian Fabian Peralta. Located in the southern San Francisco Bay Area, the grant included present-day Los Gatos and Monte Sereno, along with about a third of Campbell. It also included small sections of present-day San Jose, Saratoga and unincorporated Santa Clara County. Los Gatos Creek flowed through the center of the rancho.
