Los Chone Killers
Los Chone Killers, or Chone Killers, are an Ecuadorian criminal and terrorist organization known for their drug trafficking activities, assassinations, and other crimes. The group split from Los Choneros in 2020, along with Los Lobos and Los Tiguerones following the murder of Los Choneros leader Jorge Luis Zambrano. The group mainly operates in Guayas Province, in particular the city of Durán. History Los Chone Killers are derived from the Puerto Rican drug trafficking gang Ñetas after the latter's international expansion. When Los Choneros leader Zambrano was killed in 2020, Los Chone Killers and several other gangs split off due to disagreements with the leadership of José Adolfo MacÃas Villamar. Durán, Ecuador
Durán, is a canton located in the province of Guayas, Ecuador, near the confluence of the Daule & Babahoyo rivers, where the Guayas River enters the ocean. It is located across the Guayas River from Guayaquil. Its township or capital is Eloy Alfaro. The canton was created in 1986 during the presidential period of Leon Febres Cordero through a presidential decree. The name "Eloy Alfaro" was chosen because of the Ecuadorian ex-president Eloy Alfaro Delgado. According to the National census in 2010, there are 235,769 people residing within the canton limits. Many of its inhabitants commute to other places for work and it can be considered a "dormitory town". Los Choneros
Los Choneros is an organized crime syndicate and drug cartel based in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, with a notable presence along much of the country's coastline. The gang is known for its involvement in organized crime, including drug trafficking, extortion, and robbery. Many of its members have been on the Ecuadorian most wanted list and its original leaders have been imprisoned or killed. Their main business is moving cocaine to the United States. There were a total of 1,924 murders in Ecuador in 2012. José Adolfo MacÃas Villamar (born 30 September 1979), also known by the alias Fito, is an Ecuadorian drug trafficker and the current leader of Los Choneros cartel. He assumed leadership in 2020 following the murder of his predecessor Jorge Luis Zambrano. He had been incarcerated since 2011, having previously escaped prison and lived as a fugitive in 2013. In January 2024, he escaped from prison again, prompting a state of emergency to be called in Ecuador for sixty days and initiating the 2024 conflict in Ecuador. Criminal career MacÃas was first arrested in 2000 for committing robbery. In 2011, he was arrested for drug trafficking and organized crime and was imprisoned in La Roca Prison. Jorge Luis Zambrano González (3 October 1981 – 28 December 2020), also known by the alias ''Rasquiña'', was an Ecuadorian drug trafficker. He was the leader of Los Choneros from 2007 until his murder in 2020. Early life Zambrano was born on 3 October 1981 in Manta, Ecuador. Criminal career Zambrano became the leader of Los Choneros after the murder of their founder, Jorge Véliz alias "Teniente España". In 2008, he was arrested for the first time by the police in an anti-narcotics operation, but he was released a year later as he had not received a sentence.
