The Los Angeles Aftershock were a team in the American Basketball Association. The team took over for the Los Angeles Stars, whose only season was in 2004–2005. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. The 2005–06 ABA season was the fifth season of the American Basketball Association. The regular season began in November 2005 and concluded with the championship game in March against the Rochester Razorsharks and the Southern California Legends. Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) is a public community college in the unincorporated area of West Athens, California in Los Angeles County, California. It is part of the Los Angeles Community College District and its service area includes Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Unincorporated Westmont, and West Athens. San Jose Skyrockets
The Minot SkyRockets were a team in the Continental Basketball Association. They played their home games at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. The team began play in 2005 as the San Jose Skyrockets of the American Basketball Association. The team had a very successful first season, finishing first in the Ron Boone division with a 29-5 record. The team advanced to the semifinals of the ABA Great Eight, losing to the Rochester Razorsharks, 106-103. At the end of the season, the team announced they were joining the Continental Basketball Association and relocating to Minot, North Dakota.
