Graf Orlock (band)
Graf Orlock is an American hardcore punk band formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, California, United States. They are named after Count Orlok from the 1922 film ''Nosferatu''. The band consists of members of the hardcore punk bands Greyskull, Arctic Choke, Dangers and Ghostlimb, and employs audio snippets and script dialogue from action films such as ''The Terminator'', ''Aliens'' and ''RoboCop'' in all their songs, which has led to the band being jokingly described as "cinema-grind". The band formed after guitarist Jason Schmidt and drummer Alan Hunter along with bassist Sven Calhoun and vocalist Kalvin Kristoff begun releasing EPs and split albums. Grindcore
Grindcore is an extreme fusion genre of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from abrasive-sounding musical styles, such as thrashcore, crust punk, hardcore punk, extreme metal, and industrial. Grindcore is considered a more noise-filled style of hardcore punk while using hardcore's trademark characteristics such as heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdriven bass, high-speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals which consist of growls, shouts and high-pitched shrieks. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. ''Doombox'' is an EP by Graf Orlock. It was released by Vitriol Records on January 18, 2011. It was released as a 10" record, pressed on black (limited to 150) and clear (limited to 1350). The record came with a foldout boom-box replica, and a CD with all six songs plus the Destination Time trilogy songs. Reception ''Doombox'' was generally well received by critics. Mike Kemp of Rock Sound enjoyed the EP's "shouty, expletive-ridden grindcore", and praised the inclusion of the band's ''Destination Time'' trilogy on the CD. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist).
