Alys Lorraine
Alys Lorraine (17 January 1885 – 13 September 1956) was an American soprano who was a prominent opera singer and recitalist in Europe during the early twentieth century. Early life and education Alys Lorraine (born Alice Lorraine) was born in Quincy, Illinois, and later lived in Minneapolis. She left America for Europe in around 1902, but suffered an illness and was ordered to go to Italy to recover. In Rome, Lorraine met Italian operatic tenor Francesco Tamagno who encouraged her to study the voice after hearing her sing. She received voice lessons from Tamagno for three months, coinciding with the last year of his life. Lorraine continued her studies in Italy with Maestro Organi and Von Schuh, then Studied in Paris under Mathilde Marchesi and Jean de Reszke. She changed her name to Alys after moving to Paris. Andrew Jason Lorraine (born August 11, 1972) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1994 to 2002 for the California Angels, Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, and Milwaukee Brewers. He was born in Los Angeles, California. He also played for the La New Bears in Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League. In high school, Lorraine was named the ''Los Angeles Times'' High School Pitcher of the Year, and a member of the USA Junior National Team. He was drafted, for a second time, out of Stanford University in the fourth round in by the California Angels. Ed Lorraine
Edward F. Lorraine (April 15, 1928 – June 18, 2008) was a Canadian politician and farmer. He represented the electoral district of Colchester North in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1981 to 1984, and 1988 to 1999. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Born in Onslow, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, Lorraine was a cattle farmer who was elected to Colchester County Council in 1972, serving as warden from 1973 to 1981. He was first elected to the provincial legislature in 1981, winning the Colchester North riding by 11 votes. He was defeated in the 1984 election, but regained the seat in 1988. Guido Lorraine
Guido Lorraine (2 September 1912 – 31 December 2009) was a Polish-born actor, musician and singer, known primarily for his roles in war films. He was also sometimes known by the stage name Guy Borucki. Lorraine appeared in twenty-eight films during his career, as well as many theatre productions. Lorraine was born Gwidon Alfred Gottlieb in present-day Kraków, Poland in 1912. He studied at the School of Foreign Trade in Lwów (Lviv), where he sang in restaurants to earn money. He learned to play the accordion and piano as a child. Lorraine founded a military theatre group during World War II. Harry Lorraine (26 March 1885 – 27 March 1970), born Harry Albert Heard in Brighton, Sussex, England, was an actor in English silent films. Early life Harry Heard was the oldest of three children born to Thomas Heard and Harriett (née Ashdown). At age 16 he was working as a painter for his father, but then established himself as a magician, daredevil, and escapologist, sometimes with the spelling Harry Herd, as "The world’s youngest Handcuff King," an English version of Harry Houdini, although it's uncertain whether he met Houdini or saw him perform. Acting career Heard began his film career in 1912 and used the name Harry Lorraine throughout his acting career. Lillian Lorraine (born Ealallean De Jacques; 1892/1894 – April 17, 1955) was an American stage and screen actress of the 1910s and 1920s, best known for her beauty and for being perhaps the most famous Ziegfeld Girl in the Broadway revues Ziegfeld Follies during the 1910s. Isabella Mercia McDonagh (3 January 1899 – 5 March 1982), also known as Marie Lorraine, was an Australian actress who often worked in collaboration with her sisters Paulette and Phyllis. Isabella, alongside her two sisters made history by owning and running a film production company, therefore becoming the first Australian women to do so.
