John Campbell, 9th Duke Of Argyll
John George Edward Henry Douglas Sutherland Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll, (6 August 1845 – 2 May 1914), usually better known by the courtesy title Marquess of Lorne, by which he was known between 1847 and 1900, was a British nobleman who was Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. He was the husband of Princess Louise, fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. He was the first president of "Rangers Football Club", thanks to his Argyll ties to the original founders of the football club. Lorne Mayencourt (born 1957) is a Canadian politician, who formerly represented the electoral district of Vancouver-Burrard in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia as a member of the BC Liberal party. Career Mayencourt was first elected in the 2001 provincial election, defeating New Democrat opponent Tim Stevenson. He was previously the founder and, for its first five years, executive director of the Vancouver Friends for Life Society, which supports people living with AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Lorne Kenneth Loomer (March 11, 1937January 1, 2017) was a Canadian competition rower and Olympic champion. He received a gold medal in ''coxless fours'' at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, together with Archibald MacKinnon, Walter D'Hondt and Donald Arnold. At the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, Loomer received a gold medal in ''eights''. Awards Loomer was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1958. He was inducted into ''British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame'' in 1966, and into ''University of British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame'' in 1993, together with the other members of the Olympic gold team. Lorne Lofsky (born May 10, 1954) is a Canadian jazz guitarist who was a member of the Oscar Peterson Quartet. Lofsky began playing rock music at school dances but later took an interest in jazz after hearing the album ''Kind of Blue'' by Miles Davis. In the 1970s, he attended York University in Toronto and studied music while working at clubs in Toronto. He worked with Canadian musicians Butch Watanabe and Jerry Toth and with visiting Americans Pepper Adams, Bob Brookmeyer, and Chet Baker. In 1980, Lofsky met Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson, who produced his first album, ''It Could Happen to You''. He toured with Peterson in the 1980s, and he toured and recorded as a member of Peterson's quartet and quintet in the 1990s. He most recently served as Director of Player Personnel and Assistant General Manager for the NHL's Vancouver Canucksbr> Born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Henning spent nine years as a forward with the New York Islanders, with whom he earned an assist on the May 24, 1980 goal by Bobby Nystrom that earned the Islanders their first of four consecutive Stanley Cups. Lorne Everett Greenaway (8 May 1933 – 13 September 2010) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a rancher and veterinarian by career. Greenaway was born in Bella Coola, British Columbia in 1933. In 1952, he graduated from Kelowna Senior Secondary School and went on to attend Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, where he graduated at the top of his class and served as class president. Greenway went on to establish a small and large animal practice in Kamloops that served many of the farms in the area. ''Pink Lady'' is an American variety show that aired for five weeks on NBC in 1980, starring the Japanese musical duo of the same name. The show also is referred to by the title ''Pink Lady and Jeff'', referring to co-star Jeff Altman. The show was riddled with complications, including the dispute over the name: agents for the starring parties were never able to settle on one, and the show was advertised both ways during its run. Other difficulties included scriptwriting disagreements, guest star booking mishaps, taping and touring conflicts, and the fact that Mie and Kei, the members of Pink Lady, did not understand or speak English.
