Lori Majewski
Lori Majewski is a U.S.-based entertainment writer. She is the author (with Jonathan Bernstein) of ''Mad World: An Oral History of New Wave Artists and Songs that Defined the 1980s''. Since 2016 she has been an on-air personality at the SiriusXM music talk radio channel Volume. Personal background Majewski grew up in Weehawken, New Jersey and attended Weehawken High School, which in the 2010s inducted her into its Academic Hall of Fame. She attended college at Fordham University's Lincoln Center campus between 1989 and 1993, and wrote for '' The Fordham Observer''. She currently resides in Weehawken and Olive, New York. Relationship to Duran Duran Majewski has been a fan of the new wave group Duran Duran since hearing them in the early 1980s. She credits the band for her career in writing, claiming, "in the mid-'80s I decided I wanted to become a journalist so I could meet them." Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Like these genres, grunge typically uses electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Grunge also incorporates influences from indie rock bands such as Sonic Youth. Lyrics are typically angst-filled and introspective, often addressing themes such as social alienation, self-doubt, abuse, neglect, betrayal, social and emotional isolation, addiction, psychological trauma and a desire for freedom. Richard Melville Hall (born September 11, 1965), known professionally as Moby, is an American musician, songwriter, singer, producer, and animal rights activist. Nick Rhodes (born Nicholas James Bates, 8 June 1962) is an English keyboardist and producer, best known as a founding member, keyboardist, and only continuous member of the band Duran Duran.
