Lorette River
The Lorette River is a tributary of the Saint-Charles River, crossing the sector Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge and the area of L'Ancienne-Lorette in Quebec City, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, Canada. The Lorette river valley is mainly served by various urban roads, notably the route 358 (avenue Notre-Dame), boulevard Chauveau Ouest, rue Saint-Olivier, rue Saint- Jean-Baptiste, rue Saint-Paul, route 138 (boulevard Wilfrid-Hamel), boulevard du Parc-Technologique and boulevard Masson. The surface of the Lorette River (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. Lorette, Loire
Lorette () is a commune in the Loire department in central France, in the Gier valley. Geography Lorette lies in the valley of the Gier, a coal mining region, on the south bank of the Giers just east of La Grand-Croix. The Dorlay river, a tributary of the Gier that rises in Mont Pilat, defines the west border of the commune. History The region was developed in the 19th century for coal mining. In 1830 the Jackson brothers (Frères Jackson) built a steel works at Assailly in what is now the north of Lorette. As a result of a merger, in 1854 this became part of the Compagnie des Hauts-fourneaux, forges et aciéries de la Marine et des chemins de fer, based in Rive-de-Gier. Lorette was created on 27 April 1847 in response to the development of the steelworks, particularly that of the Jackson Brothers. Lorette is a local urban district in the Rural Municipality of Taché, located 25 km southeast of Winnipeg, in the province of Manitoba, Canada. The French-speaking Métis traders and farmers who first settled the area named it Petite Pointe du Chênes. Bishop Alexandre-Antonin Taché later changed the name to ''Lorette'', honoring a French priest who donated a significant sum to the construction of the Saint Boniface Cathedral in Winnipeg. Demographics In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Lorette had a population of 3,512 living in 1,259 of its 1,295 total private dwellings, a change of from its 2016 population of 3,208. Loreto ( , , ) is a hill town and ''comune'' of the Italian province of Ancona, in the Marche. It is most commonly known as the seat of the Basilica della Santa Casa, a popular Catholic pilgrimage site. Location Loreto is located above sea level on the right bank of the Musone river and by rail south-southeast of Ancona; like many places in the Marche, it provides good views from the Apennines to the Adriatic. A Lorette is a type of 19th-century French prostitute. They stood between the kept women (''courtesans'') and the '' grisettes''. A grisette had other employment and worked part-time as a prostitute whereas a Lorette supported herself exclusively from prostitution. The lorette shared her favours among several lovers; the Lorette's "Arthurs", as they called them, were not financially able or too fickle to have exclusivity. The lorettes evolved into ''coquettes'' under the Second French Empire and ''grues'' by the First World War. Origin of the name The neologism first appeared during the July Monarchy, July monarchy (1830-1848).
