Lords Select Committee
The parliamentary committees of the United Kingdom are committees of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Each consists of a small number of Members of Parliament from the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons, or Peerage, peers from the House of Lords, or a mix of both, appointed to deal with particular areas or issues; most are made up of members of the Commons. The majority of parliamentary committees are Select committee (United Kingdom), select committees. The remit of these committees vary depending on whether they are committees of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons or the House of Lords. Portcullis
A portcullis (from Old French ''porte coleice'', "sliding gate") is a heavy vertically-closing gate typically found in medieval fortifications, consisting of a latticed grille made of wood, metal, or a combination of the two, which slides down grooves inset within each jamb of the gateway. Usage Portcullises fortified the entrances to many medieval castles, securely closing off the castle during time of attack or siege. Every portcullis was mounted in vertical grooves in the walls of the castle and could be raised or lowered quickly by means of chains or ropes attached to an internal winch. Portcullises had an advantage over gates in that they could be closed immediately at a time of crisis by a single guard. Often, two portcullises to the main entrance would be used. Tobias Ellwood
Tobias Martin Ellwood (born 12 August 1966) is a British Conservative Party politician and soldier who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bournemouth East since 2005. Steve Brine (born 28 January 1974) is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament (MP) for Winchester (UK Parliament constituency), Winchester since 2010 United Kingdom general election, 2010. Foreign, Commonwealth And Development Office
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is a department of the Government of the United Kingdom. Alicia Alexandra Martha Kearns (born 11 November 1987) is a British Conservative Party politician. She has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rutland and Melton since the 2019 general election.
