Lord Of The Harvest
''Lord of the Harvest'' is a 1993 album by Bootsy Collins under the alias Zillatron (a.k.a. Fuzzface) and was produced by Collins and Bill Laswell. Background Musically, the album leans toward funk metal, features extensive use of samples and is darker in tone than previous Bootsy Collins albums. The album also has a strong science fiction theme. The album was released as part of Bill Laswell's Black Arc Series. ''Lord of the Harvest'' is dedicated to the memory of Parliament-Funkadelic lead guitarist Eddie Hazel who died some months earlier in December 1992. Release history The album was released by the Polystar label in Japan and by Rykodisc in the United States. A remastered version of ''Lord of the Harvest'' was reissued in 2003 by Laswell's Innerhythmic label. Some early copies of the album have the first two tracks combined as one. William Earl "Bootsy" Collins (born October 26, 1951) is an American bass guitarist and singer. Rising to prominence with James Brown in the early 1970s, and later with Parliament-Funkadelic, Collins established himself as one of the leading names and innovators in funk with his driving basslines and humorous vocals. He later formed his own P-Funk side project known as Bootsy's Rubber Band. He was a frequent collaborator with other musicians from a variety of genres, including dance music (Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart"), electronic big beat ( Fatboy Slim's " Weapon of Choice"), and alternative metal (Praxis), among others. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with 15 other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Brenda Holloway
Brenda Holloway (born June 26, 1946) is an American singer and songwriter, who was a recording artist for Motown Records during the 1960s. Her best-known recordings are the soul hits, "Every Little Bit Hurts", " When I'm Gone", and " You've Made Me So Very Happy." The latter, which she co-wrote, was later widely popularized when it became a Top Ten hit for Blood, Sweat & Tears. Umar Bin Hassan (born Gilbert Jerome Huling in Akron, Ohio, 1948) is an American poet and recording artist, associated with The Last Poets. He sold his younger sister's record player to purchase a bus ticket to New York City, where he joined the Last Poets. In the mid-1990s, he recorded a solo album titled '' Be Bop or Be Dead'' on Bill Laswell's Axiom Records through Island/ PolyGram. Melvin Glover (born May 15, 1961 in The Bronx), better known by his stage name Grandmaster Melle Mel (or simply Melle Mel) () is an American hip hop recording artist who was the lead vocalist and songwriter of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. George Bernard Worrell, Jr. (April 19, 1944 – June 24, 2016) was an American keyboardist and record producer best known as a founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic and for his work with Talking Heads. Funk Metal
Funk metal (also known as thrash-funk or punk-funk) is a subgenre of funk rock and alternative metal that infuses heavy metal music (often thrash metal) with elements of funk and punk rock.
