Lord Derby Academy
Lord Derby Academy is a coeducational secondary school. It has an academy status located in Huyton in the English county of Merseyside. Previously known as Knowsley Hey High School, in 2009 the school was merged with Bowring Comprehensive School to form Huyton Sports and Arts Centre for Learning on the site of Knowsley Hey. The school was completely rebuilt under the Building Schools for the Future programme. In February 2014 the school converted to academy status and was renamed Lord Derby Academy. The school is part of The Dean Trust which also includes Ashton-on-Mersey School in Sale as well as Broadoak School and Forest Gate Academy. In 2019 Lord Derby Academy was found to be "Requires Improvement" by Ofsted. They disagreed with this, which led to the delayed publication of the Ofsted Report. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Conor Michael McAleny (born 12 August 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or striker for club Salford City. He is a product of the Everton academy. While at Everton, he spent time on loan at Football League teams Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic, and Oxford United, before leaving on a permanent basis in 2017 to join Fleetwood Town. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. Murder Of Anthony Walker
Anthony Delano Walker (21 February 1987 – 30 July 2005) was a Black British student of Jamaican descent who was murdered with an ice axe by Michael Barton (brother of footballer Joey Barton) and Barton's cousin Paul Taylor, in an unprovoked racist attack on the night of 29 July 2005 in Huyton, Merseyside. Walker was eighteen years old and was in his second year of A-levels. He lived with his parents, Gee Walker and Steve Walker, his two sisters and one brother. Background The Walker family were one of the first black families to live in Huyton, and the children experienced racial name-calling at both primary and secondary school. Timothy Richard Stratford (born 26 February 1961) is an Anglican priest and author. Since 2018, he has been Dean of Chester in the Church of England. He was previously Archdeacon of Leicester from 2012 to 2018. Early life and education Stratford was born on 26 February 1961 in Liverpool, England. Huyton
Huyton ( ) is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley, Merseyside, England. Part of the Liverpool Urban Area, it borders the Liverpool suburbs of Dovecot, Knotty Ash and Belle Vale, and the neighbouring village of Roby, with which it formed Huyton with Roby Urban District between 1894 and 1974. Sale is a town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, in the historic county of Cheshire on the south bank of the River Mersey, south of Stretford, northeast of Altrincham, and southwest of Manchester. Ashton-on-Mersey School is a secondary school in Ashton upon Mersey, Greater Manchester, England. The school is an academy, part of The Dean Trust which includes Broadoak School and Lord Derby Academy in Huyton.
