Lord Charles Arthur Francis Cavendish
Lord Charles Arthur Francis Cavendish (5 August 1905 – 23 March 1944) was the second son of Victor Cavendish, 9th Duke of Devonshire and his wife, Lady Evelyn Petty-FitzMaurice. Biography Cavendish was educated at St Cyprian's School, Eastbourne, Eton, and at Trinity College, Cambridge. He joined the Royal Tank Regiment where he became a Lieutenant. Marriage Cavendish was first introduced to dancer and actress Adele Astaire in London in 1927, on the closing night of her show ''Funny Face''. He courted her while he worked for the bank J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York City. Adele proposed to Lord Charles at the 21 Club in Manhattan. They were married in 1932, at his family seat of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Their children – a daughter born in 1933 and twin sons born in 1935 – lived only a few hours. Lismore Castle
Lismore Castle ( ga, Caisleán an Lios Mhóir) is a castle located in the town of Lismore, County Waterford in the Republic of Ireland. It belonged to the Earls of Desmond, and subsequently to the Cavendish family from 1753. It is currently the Irish home of the Duke of Devonshire. It was largely re-built in the Gothic style during the mid-nineteenth century for The 6th Duke of Devonshire. William Cavendish MP (10 January 1783 – 14 January 1812) was an English nobleman and Whig politician. He was the son of Lord George Cavendish, later Earl of Burlington. He was educated at Eton College, and Trinity College, Cambridge, between 1800 and 1803. He went on a continental Grand Tour in 1803–04, during which he visited Berlin to see the Prussian Army reviews. Although this was during the period of the Napoleonic Wars, his own military service was at home; he was commissioned Captain in the Derbyshire Militia in 1803, was promoted Major in 1804, and was its Colonel from 1811 until his early death. Emily Jane Mercer Elphinstone Petty-Fitzmaurice, Marchioness of Lansdowne and 8th Lady Nairne (16 May 1819 – 26 June 1895) was a British peeress. Born in Edinburgh, Emily Jane de Flahaut was the eldest daughter of the French Army general and statesman, Count Charles de Flahaut by his wife, Countess Margaret, Baroness Keith (in her own right). Her half-brother was Charles, duc de Morny, the half-brother of Emperor Napoleon III through her stepmother, Queen Hortense de Beauharnais. She was also a granddaughter of Talleyrand. William Saunders Sebright Lascelles PC (29 October 1798 – 2 July 1851) was a British Whig politician. He served as Comptroller of the Household from 1847 to 1851. Background Lascelles was the third son of Henry Lascelles, 2nd Earl of Harewood and his wife Henrietta Sebright, daughter of Lieutenant-General Sir John Sebright, 6th Baronet. Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Edward Cavendish MP (28 January 1838 – 18 May 1891) was a 19th-century British politician, soldier, and nobleman.
