Loona
Loona (commonly stylized in all caps or as LOOΠΔ; ; ja, 今月の少女, Kongetsu no Shōjo, Girl of the Month) is a South Korean girl group formed by Blockberry Creative. The group was introduced to the public through a pre-debut project that began in October 2016, where each of the 12 members was revealed in a periodic fashion by releasing a promotional single over the following 18 months. They debuted as a full ensemble with the extended play, '' +' (2018), supported by the lead single " Favorite" and the title track "Hi High". In November 2022, Chuu was removed from the line-up. Name Loona's English name is derived from the Hangul letters ㅇㄷㅇㅅㄴ, each an initial consonant in the syllabic blocks that make (''Idarui Sonyeo''). When rearranged to ㄴㅇㅇㄷㅅ, it resembles LOONA in the Latin alphabet. Hi High
"Hi High" is a song released by South Korean girl group Loona. It was released on August 20, 2018, as the title track of Loona's EP '' +', by Blockberry Creative. It is the second single released by Loona as a full twelve-member group. Background and release A teaser for the music video of the song was released on August 17, 2018, and showed the members of Loona running towards somewhere. Various teaser images were also revealed in the lead up to the album's release. On August 20, "Hi High" was released alongside the album + + as its title track. Composition and lyrics The lyrics were written by Jaden Jeong, MonoTree's GDLO, and MonoTree's Hwang Hyun. The music was composed by Mayu Wakisaka, MonoTree's GDLO, and MonoTree's Hwang Hyun. According to Loona, "Hi High" has the double meaning of saying hi to the now-complete lineup of the 12 members in addition to representing Loona's goal of climbing to the top of the music scene. Kim Ji-woo (; born October 20, 1999), known professionally as Chuu (), is a South Korean singer and television personality. She is a former member of the girl group Loona and its sub-unit, yyxy. Early life Chuu was born on October 20, 1999, in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, South Korea. She is the eldest of three children, with two younger brothers. For her audition she sang " Halo" by Beyoncé. Her stage name "Chuu" is derived from saying her given name quickly. She graduated from Cheongju's Saet-byul Elementary school () and San-nam Middle school (). Career Loona On December 14, 2017, Chuu was revealed as the tenth member of the Korean idol girl group Loona. "Favorite" (stylized as "favOriTe") is the debut single released by South Korean girl group Loona. It was released on August 7, 2018, by Blockberry Creative as a digital single. This was their first release as a full twelve-member group. Composition The lyrics were written by Kim Su-jung and Jaden Jeong. It was produced by Sophia Pae and BADD's SlyBerry, Billie Jean, and Kim Jin-hyeong. It was described by ''Billboard'' as a brassy dance track that overflows with charisma and bright percussion. Adding that with prominent trills and trumpeting synths propelling the melody to its dynamic chorus, plus a woozy, alt R&B bridge later in the song, the song condenses the act's innovative nature into a boisterous tune. Blockberry Creative (Hangul: 블록베리크리에이티브) is a South Korean record label formed in 2016. It is a subsidiary of Polaris Entertainment. The label is home to the girl group Loona and soloist Sunye. History Blockberry Creative was officially established on March 22, 2016, as a subsidiary label of Polaris Entertainment. ''Mix Nine'' (Hangul: 믹스나인, stylized as MIXNINE) was a South Korean survival reality show broadcast on JTBC. In the show, YG Entertainment founder and producer Yang Hyun-suk traveled to music agencies across Korea to find up-and-coming K-pop stars. Throughout the episodes, contestants were progressively eliminated, culminating in a competition between a team of the final nine boys and one of the final nine girls. The winning team was to debut as idols, but their debut was ultimately cancelled following contract disputes between YG Entertainment and the contestants' respective agencies.
