Longview Museum Of Fine Arts
The Longview Museum of Fine Arts (LMFA) is an art museum in downtown Longview, Texas. It was founded in 1958 by the Junior Service League of Longview. Since 1998, it has been on Tyler Street in downtown Longview. The LMFA's permanent collection consists of over 700 works of art and its primary focus is contemporary art from Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. The museum also hosts both traveling and temporary exhibitions while also offering a variety of art education classes. History The LMFA was established in 1958 by the Junior Service League of Longview. In 1959, it hosted its first annual Invitational Exhibit, with Dallas Museum of Art director Jerry Bywaters serving as both the consultant and the juror for the exhibit. Longview is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, and county seat of Gregg County, Texas, Gregg County; a small part of Longview extends into the western portion of neighboring Harrison County, Texas, Harrison County. The ''Longview News-Journal'' is the major newspaper printed in the City of Longview, Texas. Dating to 1871 under independent publishers, including James Hogg, later Texas governor, and Carl Estes, Longview civic figure, the publication was purchased by Cox Newspapers in the 1980s and sold by Cox to ASP Westward in 2009. It is closely affiliated with the ''Marshall News Messenger'', another former Cox newspaper (published in nearby Marshall) which was sold to ASP Westward along with the ''News-Journal''. KLTV (channel 7) is a television station licensed to Tyler, Texas, United States, serving East Texas as an affiliate of ABC and Telemundo. K31PR-D (channel 31) is a digital translator, also licensed to Tyler, in full simulcast with the primary KLTV digital feed. Owned by Gray Television, the stations maintain studios on West Ferguson Street in downtown Tyler (between the Smith County and United States courthouses), and the transmitter site is located in rural northern Smith County (near the Wood County line). KTRE (channel 9) in Lufkin operates as a semi-satellite of KLTV. Leamon Green
Leamon Green (born 1959) is an Americans, American visual artist who works in different types of media. Biography Green was born in 1959 in the town of Anniston, Alabama. His education includes a Master of Fine Arts at Temple University, Philadelphia (1985), a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio (1982) and a Studio Arts Degree from Concord University, Concord College (1977–79). Arthello Beck
Arthello Beck Jr. (July 17, 1941 – November 5, 2004) was an American artist. He often painted scenes of places he had visited, using a variety of mediums, including oils, watercolors, and charcoal. Beck was born in Dallas, Texas, and attended Lincoln High School, where he received his only formal art training. Afterwards, he worked for the United States Postal Service, as well as various other jobs before becoming a professional artist. He is possibly known best for his works from the 1960s dealing with the Civil Rights Movement, although Beck commonly featured other subjects, including children, religion, and human interaction, particularly in the African-American community in the southern regions of the United States. Michael Kenna (born 1953) is an English photographer best known for his unusual black and white landscapes featuring ethereal light achieved by photographing at dawn or at night with exposures of up to 10 hours. His photos concentrate on the interaction between ephemeral atmospheric condition of the natural landscape, and human-made structures and sculptural mass.
