Longue Vue Island is an island located in the Thousand Islands region on the Saint Lawrence River. The island is on the American side of the river, adjacent to the St. Lawrence Seaway channel in Northern New York. Longue Vue Club and Golf Course is a historic golf course and clubhouse in Penn Hills Township, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. It was founded in the 1920s. It was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1985, and the National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 2005. Longue Vue House And Gardens
Longue Vue House and Gardens, also known as Longue Vue, is a historic house museum and associated gardens at 7 Bamboo Road in the Lakewood neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. The former home of Edgar Stern and Edith Rosenwald Stern (daughter of Julius Rosenwald), the current house is in fact the second. The original house and gardens began in 1924. In 1934, landscape architect Ellen Biddle Shipman began to work with the Sterns on the designs of their gardens. Through the re-working of the gardens the Sterns decided that their house did not allow them to fully enjoy their new grounds, and the original house was subsequently moved and a new one erected in its place starting in 1939. This new house was designed by architects William and Geoffrey Platt whose father, Charles A. Platt, was Shipman's mentor. Fairview Manor also known as Longue Vue Manor, Our Lady of Fairview, and Fairview Manor Restaurant and Lodge, is a historic home located at Clayton in Jefferson County, New York. It was built in 1937 as a summer retreat for Carl Zimmerman. It is a very interesting and intact interpretation of a European castle/Manor house with a distinctive eclectic French flavor. As of April 2011, the property was permanently closed, and had been for quite some time, due to the overgrown nature of the surroundings. The Brisson River (''French: Rivière Brisson'') is a tributary of Rimouski River, flowing in the municipality of La Trinité-des-Monts, in the Rimouski-Neigette Regional County Municipality, in the region administrative Bas-Saint-Laurent, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Taken from its source on the northern slope of Mont Longue-Vue, the Brisson River descends from the mountains in a small deep valley to a plain where it flows on the east bank of the Rimouski River. Lélia Wanick Salgado (born 1947), is a Brazilian author, film producer and environmentalist. She directs the photo press agency Amazonas Images that she founded in 2004 with husband Sebastião Salgado. Biography Salgado was born in 1947 in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. She started her professional life at 17 when she became a primary school and piano teacher. She holds a degree in architecture from the Ecole National Supérieure de Beaux Arts and Urbanism at the Paris VII University. She met Sebastião Salgado in 1964 and married in 1967. Frédéric Musso (3 February 1941 – 5 September 2020) was an Algerian-born French writer, poet, and journalist. Biography Musso was born in Algiers to a family of Sardinian descent. He studied at the Collège Notre-Dame-d'Afrique in Algiers, where he discovered the works of Victor Hugo. After failing in his higher studies, he turned to writing and journalism. He began his writing career working for Claude Tenne, a member of the Organisation armée secrète and evading prison on Île de Ré, for his work on ''Mais le Diable marche avec nous''. He wrote his first novel, ''La Déesse'', in the 1960s, although it was not published until 1975. A lorgnette () is a pair of spectacles with a handle, used to hold them in place, rather than fitting over the ears or nose. The word ''lorgnette'' is derived from the French ''lorgner'', to take a sidelong look at, and Middle French, from ''lorgne'', squinting. Their precise origin is debated: some sources describe English scientist George Adams the elder as their inventor, while others cite his son George Adams the younger. The lorgnette was usually used as a piece of jewelry, rather than to enhance vision. Fashionable ladies usually preferred them to spectacles.
