Longstreet (TV Series)
''Longstreet'' is an American police procedural that was broadcast on the ABC in the 1971–1972 season (see 1971 in television). A 90-minute pilot movie of the same name aired prior to the debut of the series as an ''ABC Movie of the Week''. Synopsis The series starred James Franciscus as insurance investigator Mike Longstreet. After a bomb (hidden in a champagne bottle) kills his wife, Ingrid, and leaves him blind, the title character pursues and captures the killers. He then continues his career as an insurance investigator despite his blindness. Longstreet's seeing eye dog was a white German Shepherd called Pax. The series was set in New Orleans, but was actually filmed in Los Angeles. Police Procedural
The police show, or police crime drama, is a subgenre of procedural drama and detective fiction that emphasizes the investigative procedure of a police officer or department as the protagonist(s), as contrasted with other genres that focus on either a private detective, an amateur investigator or the characters who are the targets of investigations. While many police procedurals conceal the criminal's identity until the crime is solved in the narrative climax (the so-called whodunit), others reveal the perpetrator's identity to the audience early in the narrative, making it an inverted detective story. James Neilson (director)
James William Neilson (October 1, 1909December 9, 1979) was an American television director, known for his stage and film direction as well as his work with ''Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color''. Directing James W. Neilson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, son of Edward Doremus and Clifford Bryant (nee "Hall") Neilson, and moved with his family to New York City as a child. In January 1942, Neilson enlisted in the US Marines directly following the entry of the United States into World War II. He served two tours of combat duty in the South Pacific and attained the rank of master sergeant. He was active as a war photographer. Following the war, Neilson returned to the theatre and from 1948 to 1952 he directed numerous productions at the La Jolla Playhouse, many of which featured well-known Hollywood performers including Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston and Groucho Marx. Sandor Stern (born July 13, 1936) is a Canadian writer, director and film producer best known for his horror films. Personal life Born in the northern Canadian town of Timmins, Ontario; raised in the small town of Prescott, Ontario, on the St. Lawrence River; Sandor Stern was drawn to short story writing while in high school and began writing stage plays while attending the University of Toronto. Though he planned to obtain a degree in teaching, a physician-uncle suggested that medicine might offer more involving experiences for an aspiring writer. Heeding that advice, Stern enrolled in Medical School at the University of Toronto.
