Longest Trains
The length of a train may be measured in number of Railroad car, wagons (for bulk loads such as coal and iron ore) or in metres for general freight. Train lengths and loads on electrified railways, especially lower voltage 3000 V DC and 1500 V DC, are limited by traction and power considerations. The Mauritania Railway is the national railway of Mauritania. Construction of the line began in 1960, with it opening in 1963. It consists of a single, railway line linking the iron mining centre of Zouérat with the port of Nouadhibou, via Fderik and Choum. The state agency ''Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière'' (National Mining and Industrial Company, SNIM) controls the railway line. Since the closure of the Choum Tunnel, a section of the railway cuts through the Polisario Front- controlled part of the Western Sahara (). Rail transport in India is an important mode of conveyance for people and goods in India. Indian Railways (IR) is the primary operator of rail operations throughout the country. IR is a state-owned organisation of the Ministry of Railways, which historically had its own government budget. Between 2019 and 2020, 22.15 million passengers used the Indian Railways network daily.
