Winter Solstice
The winter solstice, also called the hibernal solstice, occurs when either of Earth's poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. This happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere ( Northern and Southern). For that hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky. Either pole experiences continuous darkness or twilight around its winter solstice. The opposite event is the summer solstice. The winter solstice occurs during the hemisphere's winter. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the December solstice (usually 21st or 22nd December) and in the Southern Hemisphere, this is the June solstice (usually 20th or 21st of June). In the episode the Trotters are accused of shoplifting at a local supermarket and taken up to the manager's office. Whilst there they are held hostage by an armed robber who shares a connection with Del. Synopsis During their weekly shopping trip at their local supermarket, Del Boy, Rodney, and Albert are summoned by head security officer Tom Clark to the manager Mr. Peterson's office. This song was written by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb, and was released in September 1987, from the album '' E.S.P.''. Musical structure On this song, it features Robin Gibb on the lead vocal, with Barry's guitar all over it; the variety of the melody, the flow of the lyric, and the structure with two verses but no chorus all set a contemplative mood. The second time around, as it hits the second verse section, Robin goes off into a few lines of new melody as if he's been distracted by his thoughts. Barry chimes in with his falsetto voice for backing vocals. Blue Christmas (also called the Longest Night) in the Western Christian tradition, is a day in the Advent season marking the longest night of the year. On this day, some churches in Western Christian denominations hold a church service that honours people that have lost loved ones and are experiencing grief. These include parishes of Catholicism, Lutheranism, Methodism, Moravianism, and Reformed Christianity. The Holy Eucharist is traditionally a part of the service of worship on this day. This worship service is traditionally held on or around the longest night of the year, which falls on or about December 21, the Winter Solstice. There is an interesting convergence for this day as it is also the traditional feast day for Saint Thomas the Apostle.
